I just want a device to use Word? Does that exist?

I don’t want to spend hundreds just want something to write on!

A cheap second hand desktop would probably be the cheapest. You can get ex office ones for about £50, I use mine to watch tv/Internet.

Does it have to be MS Word?

A second hand Chromebook would allow you to use Google docs etc for free, whereas you're likely to have to pay for Word, which is £££s unless you can get an academic or other discount version.
