£66 energy payment

I’ve just found £66 from my energy company in my bank account. I expected it to be credited to my energy account, as that’s what happened to my DF, but much happier to have it this way.

Mine was credited back to my bank account. I had received correspondence before hand advising this is what was happening.

Some energy companies are keeping the direct debit the same and refunding the money to your bank. Others are reducing the direct debit and crediting the money to the energy account

Mine have credited my energy account and kept my direct debits the same. Which is annoying as we are already in credit ... I'm sure this will change though once the cold weather comes and I cave and put the heating on, so I might appreciate this way then 😬

EDF are doing that too. I’d rather they just knocked it off the bill tbh. Rather than charge me £253 then refund me £66 9 days later.

Same here. If you don't mind me asking have you checked your payment schedule? I checked mine last night and in the credited section is says £66 and it's come off my total in the last section but it still hasn't been paid to me. Does yours say the same or does this mean I won't get it as they've just taken it off my credit on the account?

Mine has credited it to my energy account (Bulb). Would have preferred it in my bank account as were already 1k in credit!

Ohnoohoo - I've not checked today but last month yes it showed as going into my energy account and then came out again. So I expect the same this time. Just thought it should be quicker than 4 days!

Last month some posters said it took 10 days for the payment to get to their bank accounts

Oh ok thank you. I'll probs give them a call to check today. On an email from them last month it said it could take 10 days to make the payment

British Gas have credited my Electricity account by £66 × 2 so I have no electric bills to pay last month or this month, and have a credit to carry forward.

My Gas bill for October is only £38 and we've had the CH on, so I'm very happy so far. I may use the tumble dryer to celebrate 🤔

I'm British Gas too. Paid bill on 18th October but the £66 didn't arrive in my account until 1st Nov.

Mine's taking it off my DD. Which is fine as I'm more than normally in credit already.

Same here! And they've increased my DD by £5 a month, even though I'm well in credit before the government payment which is nearly as much as my monthly bill! I'm making a point of submitting meter readings every month now.

I’m with SSE and my £66 went into my bank account today. Took longer last month I think as 1st October was a Saturday.

British Gas here - still haven't had Octobers payment let alone Novembers, and they have no idea why. No reason why not, I've now asked them to escalate, but keep getting fobbed off.

If you are on the ‘pay full amount’ DD with EDF, rather than a fixed DD, they are crediting your account.

I have a smart meter and pay the exact amount each month and my account is now in credit as we haven’t had the heating in and are being very careful with electricity.

Yea mine was topped up as I looked at the meter , hahaha

£77 in credit but due to last months payment I was not in debit this time
