Amazon prime music

Does anyone else listen to music on Prime? I have lots of playlists and listen to various albums etc, all good. But no more. The bastards have changed it. You can now only listen to your playlists on shuffle. Any albums you listen to, they now shove in 'helpful suggestions'. So Ziggy Stardust with the occasional Bruce Springsteen or Rolling Stones track randomly shoved in.
Obviously they're not that mean. You can still listen to music without all this crap, but you have to pay extra for Music Unlimited. Bastards.

Anyone?

Same here today. It's bloody annoying. Will give up and just use Spotify now.

ouch321 · 03/11/2022 22:00

I'm sure they messaged me just the other day saying they had dramatically increased their free music library.

There aren't any services around that let you download tracks or albums without a paid subscription are there?

All thefree ones seems to rely on and permit only streaming.

Fine if you're at home on wifi but when out and about it really eats up mobile data allowance.

They have you can only listen to it on shuffle. If you want to decide what to play next etc you have to pay for music unlimited

'But' you can only listen on shuffle

It updated the other day and turned into a shit version of Spotify.

I think I'll go back to real Spotify now. :(

Brogues · 04/11/2022 12:51

Same here. To be fair the shuffle lists haven’t been too bad so like the radio but without the inane commentary and adverts.

jiskoot · 04/11/2022 13:11

They've also removed the ability to 'rewind' a song, I was just given a 3 month free upgrade to unlimited but will cancel completely at the end

ThatsRoughBuddy · 04/11/2022 14:16

I’m pissed off with the changes. Bloody unusable now.

I have digital downloads of a hundred records (bought from Amazon and they give the free digital copies) and I can’t even play those albums. It shuffles those songs too and plays other songs from other albums! 😤 I’ve fucking paid for those so shouldn’t have the restrictions on them!

WhiteWhiteWhite · 04/11/2022 14:22

So glad you posted about this Op. @Cashelmara

I'm absolutely furious about this shuffling nonsense! Been going round the houses trying to work out how to switch it off, but no joy.

I'm bedbound & not often well enough to listen to music, but I've carefully made a soothing album that I go to when I'm in a bad painful relapse. There's a reason the songs were in the order I arranged them! Angry

Guess I need to use some of my precious energy to set up music elsewhere now 🙄

TheDogsMother · 04/11/2022 14:25

I have Unlimited as I found the previous subscription didn't offer enough current stuff. I the think the monthly subscription which incudes TV and free delivery is worth more than Spotify at a similar price which only offers music.

red4321 · 04/11/2022 14:32

I was so incensed that I can't play the tracks I've actually paid to download that I cancelled Prime today.

I also had a live chat. The Amazon chap tried to pretend it was a technical issue that was very rare (his words not mine) and was in the process of being 'fixed'. When I pointed out it wasn't a technical issue, and they'd emailed me to explain the new format for Amazon Music, he didn't really have an answer.

In all honesty, I'll sign back up to Prime at some point but I thought, if enough customers vote with their feet, it might force them to reconsider reinstating the old music platform.

I appreciate times are hard and they reduced their licensing costs this way (apparently) but if I've paid to download a track, I should be able to listen to it without it playing a random shuffle instead. That you can't even skip...aaargh! (Can you tell it's making me cross......).

Good for you red!!! Star

Technical issue that was very rare

Cheeky feckers Angry

It crossed my mind too, but I've come to rely on the whole Prime too much & haven't the energy to shop about.

I know, own it at least! I wonder if it's a semi trial to gauge the outcry and either reverse or make permanent?

I admit that I was rely on Prime. But you keep your benefits until the membership year ends so no real loss. I can still renew then but at least it might make them reconsider if they see lots of Prime membership cancellations in the next month.

Cashelmara · 04/11/2022 16:15

I'm still really cross about it. There's no way I'm paying for music unlimited. I'd rather pay for Spotify. Not rewarding greed and bad behaviour on Amazon's part.

This has given me the rage! I use Amazon music to play songs for a small child, usually a song of their request. So being told they can’t play that song but here’s something similar but not the same Is stupid and misses the point!

This mornings choice the Ghostbusters theme song……Amazon plays the musical intro from the film Halloween!
