Clothing influencers who actually offer something a bit different

I'm mid 40s and in a bit of a style rut, I know what suits me but I'm always after some inspiration and I'm finding Instagram a bit samey for women my age. So many female influencers who look good but it's all very much long dresses, grenson boots, mum jeans, big scarfs etc and usually from the same brands as they all get invited to the same press launches.

Has anyone found any one whose not one of the usual suspects? I really love a French woman called Valerie Tribes and also A History of Architecture who is so super stylish and cool.

Has anyone else got any other suggestions?

I need this inspiration as well

Twattergy · 04/11/2022 07:50

I agree! I enjoy following a few instagrammers but I have got frustrated with the wealth of big shapeless dresses, blouses with big collars and clumpy boots. It looks great on them but is a bit samey and isn't a look that works for me. Send more inspiration please !!!

Bookaholic73 · 04/11/2022 07:52

Yes I need this too!

Probably not what your looking for, bu I like notneedingnew. Inspiration to get looking in charity shops and styling things your way.

I've started following TraysLounge and TamuMcPherson on IG and am enjoying their posts. I can't stand the maxi dress look personally, does nothing for me.

This might get more traffic in Style and Beauty but I like Lydia Jane Tomlinson. She’s only 27ish (twenty years younger than me) but her style is quite timeless and classic and her tips can be incorporated at any age. She definitely doesn’t feature patterned midi dresses which have imo been done to death and then some.

The patterned midi dress, leather jackets and clumpy boots. As I say they look great in them but nothing ground breaking and sometimes I don't even think they wear them much as they are all #ad/gifted. I've been on the hunt for another French influencer - as I said up thread I love Valerie Tribes, quite a lot for her amazing Paris apartment but also she just looks great. She wears quite a lot of Mango (as well as lots of super expensive makes I can't afford) which I'd never even thought of wearing but bought a couple of things there over the summer and love them.

And again - A History of Architecture - she's so stylish, intelligent (an actual architecture historian) and cool with it.

Trayslounge - yep, she's a good one too.

Styleinthestix is another one I like too

Fashionandstyleedit is v classic and elegant. Mogzee_m is quite wild but a great follow!! Shnordic for the gorgeous home and neutral style. Littlefashbird for more city style, she's a little younger. And Alexandra stedman too!

Orangestrap · 04/11/2022 14:01

Wow, just looked at Shnordic's account - her house is amazing!
