If you stay poolside to watch your child swim...

Can you take off your outdoor shoes or use the shoe covers?!

Our pool has No-Shoes-Past-This-Point signs up, and blue shoe covers for those who don’t want to go barefoot or swap to flip flops. But the parents staying poolside to watch swimming lessons ignore the rule.

I have a disability that swimming really helps with but finishing every session walking on mud and getting changed in changing rooms with dirty floors is so gross it’s making me want to (metaphorically) throw the towel in. 😫

I agree - our pool is really really strict on it and for good reason! It's disgusting 🤮 Have you spoken to management or people on reception?

If it's a private company at a private gym complain to the company. Yes I do wear shoe covers it go barefoot as do all the other parents at the kids lessons

I do.

oh, you want some specific people to do it at a specific place? Have you complained to the staff?

I don't understand why ppl ignore the rules. Their own kids will step in the mess they created bare foot when they get out of the pool!

I normally bring my own pool side flip flop and if I forget I use the shoe covers.

I used to either take a pair of new flip flops that I bought specifically for the poolside, or disposable shoe covers.

I hate confrontation so the first time I complained I did it as a feedback form thing on their website. The next time I did it to the receptionist as I was leaving. The third time I did it to a lifeguard while I was still swimming and the parents were still there.

To his credit he took a load of shoe covers over to them so he obviously did raise the issue. But only some actually used them after he’d left. Then after half hour one lesson ends and another group of parents comes traipsing in so the problem starts all over.

I suppose the answer is to complain repeatedly...

I hadn’t thought of this. Very true, their own children will be walking barefoot across it all. Children don’t seem to care about swimming pool grossness (or any grossness) though I suppose.

That swimming party episode of Motherland has just come back to me. 🤢
