How do I send a WhatsApp message to Australia?

Friend who normally lives close to me in the UK is holidaying abroad. I want to get a message to them, but when I send it on WhatsApp, it stays on one grey tick, which I think means that it isn't being delivered. Do I need to change the number? Do I do that in my phone contacts or in my WhatsApp contacts? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Have they connected to Wi-Fi or data there? It should just work the same without changing the number and if the message isn’t getting though it’s probably due to them not being online over there

It will be delivered when they either log in with WiFi or have data. Nothing more you can do your end.

As soon as they have Internet/WiFi they will get your message

If she has a UK phone number you just send as normal.
She will receive the message if she has internet/wi-fi/data

You could also send a normal text which should be received in the normal way. This will only cost you what it costs if she were in the UK

OK, thank you. Suspect the delay is down to them not being online

She will have her data switched off due to the charges. She will see it when she connects to WiFi
