Soup and Crisps

Random chat fir fun.
Just having my lunch at work and I'm having homemade vegetable soup and automatically open a bag of salt and vinegar crisps, crunch them up and pour them in..,, had a thought I'd this weird or common.
I see it as like adding croutons..,,, thoughts... what other combinations do you like that might seem strange.
My other favourite is Heinz tomato soup with quavers in it....

I've done this before.

As a student I basically lived off sweet chili sensations dipped into and some crushed up and inside a beef and tomato pot noddle. Delicious.

Salted crisps in a leek and potato soup is also a solid choice.

Crisps are for dipping in cream of tomato soup, or for making crisp sandwiches 😆

Soup and cornflakes are my bag. Similar to @Thedeg, I started with cup-a-soups with cornflakes as a snack as a student in halls. I still put cornflakes in my soup 25 years later.

I was inspired by some time in Austria where I would eat soup with these prepackaged corn puff crouton things.

I mentioned my soup and cornflakes thing to a friend recently. He looked absolutely disgusted. I really don't understand why! Soup and crisps sound great. I'm not sure about S&V, but cheesy quavers in cream of tomato would be lush!

They're good combinations, but I think I'd prefer the crisps with rather than in the soup as they're liable to go too soggy too quickly. Croutons are that bit more robust and should retain their crunch.

I use tortilla chips, bread sticks or those riveta thins, I agree, just like croutons really. With that I also sprinkle over salads.

Hmmm not sure on cornflakes but I'm intrigued now so may have to try next time
