I’m overweight, but all of a sudden feel far too overweight.

basically, I have been pootling along a few stones overweight, and it’s crept up to the point I really find it physically uncomfortable.

I am wearing size 18/20 clothes and want to tackle this now.

problems I am well aware I have - portion control and a sweet tooth that verges on binging at times.

I don’t love exercise, but am willing to try to walk more etc.

so what’s best? Calorie counting? Throwing away all snacks? Joining a club?

I’d love to weight one stone less by the end of the year if possible, then maybe two more stone down over the following four months.

Oh for an edit button! Weight, of course, and all other typos.

The things that helped me were calorie counting, and educating myself on what food I could have lots of (veg!) so that I still had big portions within my calorie limit.

Also, accounting for a sweet treat daily within my calorie limit from first thing on the morning. I used MFP so would just log a chocolate bar or whatever in at breakfast time so I could see what calories I had left for the day. I always saved my treat for the evening so I knew I had it to look forward to.

That is such a simple, but neat trick

I lost six dress sizes and have kept it off for years after a lifetime of failed dieting . I intermittent fasting ( 16:8 loads on the Google) limit carbs ( one piece of bread a day with peanut butter) not too much potato or rice, hardly ever have sugar ..2 squares of 85% dark choc a day and if I am drinking gin and soda . Cheat meal not cheat day .. that's it .. and it works .. I don't weight myself anymore but have truth jeans as I just had to get off the weight obsession and my size has now stayed the same .. x by the way the other piece of gold info i would share is if you intermittent fast and then skip a day it takes four days for your body to set back to the benefits of IF ( source : Huberman podcast)
