Tassimo Dupes

I’ve been given a Tassimo coffee machine which is lovely but I can’t believe how expensive the pods are. Google says they are not compatible with any cheapy pods though Dolce Gusto etc are.

Just wondering if anyone has found an alternative that works well in a Tassimo or I’m stuck with a worktop accessory I can’t really afford to use regularly.

If you use the black coffee pods and add your own milk you get twice as many drinks to a pack - and ordering online it's still 16 pods in a pack rather than the smaller supermarket pods. I use the L'Or ones - 30p a cup at home for something much nicer than a high street chain £3 cup. You get the recycling bags if you order from Tassimo directly too. Even the black coffee emerges really frothy, so that plus unfrothed milk still makes a lovely cup.

Hi
Sorry know this is an old thread, hoping you can answer this : just bought a Tassimo Suny on special offer, thinking I might use my own milk (and maybe a milk frother) instead of the milk in the discs, just wondering how much milk do you add to get the same consistency and taste? TIA

No problem! I add about as much milk as I would a filter coffee. Any more and you'd cool the coffee too much and you'd lose the illusion of it being frothy! I think the pod milk's sweetened as well, so if you really want the same taste as a 2 pod cup you'd need to add some sugar. Personally I see that as a good reason to avoid the "milk" pods. I did try a bag of the Kenco flat whites and personally found them revolting - the whole thing's too hot with the milk heated as well, plus too sweet.
I don't know if all the machines froth the coffee to the same degree - we had one in a holiday let and the coffee seemed a bit flatter. Still very drinkable though!

@Melliphant thank you for the quick reply ! 😃Yes, agree about the milk pod, just made my first flat white and it tastes much sweeter than the ones in Costa Coffee shops, so I will give it a go with normal milk

I got one as a gift too and the pods are so expensive. I haven't found any dupes. I used to buy a box a week and then just have one pod a day. At the moment though I can't afford any so it's just sitting there taunting me. The Tassimo packs have shrunk too and the prices have gone up. There used to be 8 drinks in a pack and now they're are 6.

You can use your own coffees in the Tassimo my way 2

A thread risen from the dead! How does that work - the My May 2 still uses pods doesn't it?

Tassimo have a Black Friday sale on at the moment on their website, 40% off all pods. I've just got a load at between 20 and 25p a drink - again just black but rather frothy coffee, not the hideous milky ones. BFFLASHUK
