How do royals, celebs manage their wardrobes?

As in literally manage them?

We all heard about the Queen and her dresser bringing out important brooches to remind everyone of the 40 years of links between the monarchy and Crewe Town Council (or whatever it was) but where did the brooches live ? In a special room? In boxes?

And the clothes? Were there just normal wardrobes, or rails with tags on listing where worn and when? And how do Kate's team do it - does she have the equivalent of the Clueless system?

I had a Google but all I could really find were Kardashian wardrobes that looked like expensive ikea pax in a big room. But no mention of logging software.

No idea why I'm interested but I wondered if anyone on here knew how big, strategic, complex wardrobes are 'managed' ?

I think this is such an interesting qs (I’m obsessed with home organization tho). On a recent ep of the Kardashians, Kim went to an enormous warehouse where she kept all her clothes, they were individually labelled with when she had worn them, where etc. I assume there must be some kind of computer log so she can navigate her way from rail to rail.

I remember reading about a supermodel (maybe Heidi Klamath or Claudia Schiffer) who said all their clothes were also kept in a climate controlled warehouse and they were hoping to pass them on to their daughter one day.

Also in the first episode of The Home Edit Reese Witherspoon brings some old gowns and costumes out of storage for the home organisers to arrange in her new home and again each of them was labelled with where it had been worn and the year.

I imagine for the royals there is an even more detailed itemised list of where each piece has been worn because it’s always attributed with such significance (e.g. whatever Kate wore to the Queen’s funeral will be noted whenever she wears it again). And it must be in a warehouse somewhere simply for sheer space. The jewels would presumably be kept in some kind of vault though.

*Heidi Klum, not sure where Klamath came from?!

Blimey, imagine living in giant homes or palaces that STILL aren't big enough for all your clothes! I'd not actually thought of off-site storage, although I do know that furs are meant to be stored not in centrally heated areas, but in cold rooms.

Though thankfully fur seems to be dying a bit of a death (!) in the UK.

Also, that must be a whole job, selecting options from the existing wardrobe every now and then, and cataloguing where worn, when cleaned... Then another person to call in new stuff.

Do the royals have their own dry cleaners? I guess they must.

Talking of Heidi Klum, off topic, I saw a slightly disturbing advert today (possibly on here in fact) of heidi and her young daughter, sexy/innocent together in their undies. It wasn’t good.

I imagine the royals’ dressers keep detailed notes on when outfits, items of jewellery were worn etc as part of their role. Hostesses in the past (or their senior staff) would keep detailed notes on which dishes and wines were served at dinner parties to which guests, and the guest lists for weekend parties, to make sure people weren’t being served the same thing/invited in the same combinations — unless honoured guests expressed a particular liking for a certain dish (or had to have a room next to their current lover etc.)

Perhaps they are catalogued on a computer system with #tags to say where they were worn, when, any other relevant info. I'm imagining a system like a museum would use, like the V&A.

There must be stuff they also get rid of, wonder how the do it, I imagine donate anonymously to charity unless being used for a fund raiser.

I always imagine it's like the Barbie cartoons with the wardrobe function. Must be great fun.

So wrong, isn't it?
God, I remember when she was born! It was top gossip, as HK slept with Naomi Cambell's fiance, an ex billionaire. Then quickly he and HK split and she got together with Seal.

I guess it must be sort of tag based, and then when said royal is visiting eg Bahrain, they search Bahrain, Sheikh whoever, and see what they've worn before or what granny was gifted, and what they might want to reference.

In my head they have something like Cher's wardrobe in Clueless. Where there was a computer which said which items went with which and the rails were motorised.

I'm guessing for the royals there is an archiveist who makes detailed notes.
