Hairdresser and claustrophobic

Somebody distract me, please!

I want to get my hair done, but I hate hairdressers, always get in a panic . I’ve got half an hour before my hair gets washed (colours on and setting) . I’m autistic and too much sensory information and too hot under the gown - which triggers panic attacks/feeling faint sometimes - but don’t want to appear stupid by saying anything to the staff (who are lovely and know me well) .

I’ve got my phone, kindle, the internet and a cup of tea …

Just enjoy the relaxation and time out 😊
I would absolutely love to get my hair done so I'm very jealous 😂

I love the results, it’s just the getting there . I used to have a mobile hairdresser which was so much easier !

Calm, slow breathing. Can you put earplugs in, if the noise is part of it? Wriggle your hands out from under the gown for a bit of ventilation? Close your eyes when they wash your hair to keep the sensory input down?

Nowadays people are more and more away of neurodiversity and divergence, IME, so if you need to say something, don’t be afraid. No decent person is going to judge you, and if they do, fuck ‘em.
