What on EARTH do I wear with blue jeans?!

As the title says really!
I've always lived in black jeans, for as long as I can remember. But I'm wanting to try and switch it up a little, especially as I'm sure that everyone around me must think I live in the same pair day in, day out 🤣

(I don't, I've got multiple!!)

So I've bought myself a pair of acid washed blue skinny jeans to try.. but I have NO idea what to pair with them too and footwear wise.

Has anybody got any ideas?

Anything*. Definitely black too.

*except a denim shirt/jacket. Maybe the latter at a push, but I'm not a fan of double denim

I had an interview last week and the interviewer had on white trainer's, pale wide leg jeans, white shirt and black jumper. She looked very smart and whilst sitting down looked like she had semi formal office clothes on.

I think as long as you stay away from double denim you'll be fine!

Pretty much anything? My general uniform for pottering about is blue skinny jeans, converse high-tops and and a jumper or a t-shirt.

If I need to be a bit smarter then blue skinny jeans, brown or black flat knee length boots, a nice top or freshly ironed plain T-shirt and and a blazer.

BlueBar · 01/11/2022 08:20

Yes it's odd. Blue jeans go with anything in a way that blue trousers don't.

AlbertaAnnie · 01/11/2022 08:34

Literally anything……

Lalliella · 01/11/2022 08:40

You could wear red, yellow, pink, blue, orange, purple, black, brown, green. You could wear a crop top, a tank top, a t-shirt, a blouse, a shirt, a jumper. You could wear glamorous, smart, casual, scruffy. You could wear flip flops, sandals, heels, loafers, converse, trainers, boots. You could wear anything!

Black jeans go with anything but I do think blue jeans need a bit more putting together.

I tend to go lighter all over so light coloured trainers with a lighter/brighter coloured t-shirt/hoodie/jumper.
If I'm wearing boots I'd go for tan/beige and same with handbag.

Tadpoll · 01/11/2022 09:40

I disagree that blue jeans look good with anything. I think black can look odd tbh, although it depends on the outfit - and your figure.

Wearing black with blue jeans does highlight your bottom half, for example, so be aware of that if you don’t have perfect legs and bum. What looks good on the influencers doesn’t always work in real life.

I like neutrals with blue jeans - so, beige, camel, brown, with brown or tan footwear. I think it’s classier than black. I also don’t think certain greens work.

Tadpoll · 01/11/2022 09:41

I also think blue jeans are a lot easier in the summer (when we tend to wear more white and ‘barely there’ footwear) and not so easy in the winter.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/11/2022 09:51

I find it harder to match colours with black jeans than blue jeans. But then I grew up in the 70’s/80’s where we just wore blue jeans all the time with any top available.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 01/11/2022 09:53

Black top and blue jeans is fine, why woukdn't it be? Literally anything goes with blue jeans...

cannaethink · 01/11/2022 10:00

I agree with you that black doesn’t go with blue jeans.
I wear navy, grey (light and dark) and dark green with blue jeans mainly. Brown boots.
White t shirts in the summer, and my trainers are either navy, green or white.

Agree with this 100%

Endlesssummer392 · 01/11/2022 11:05

I think a better middle ground would be navy jeans.

Tadpoll · 01/11/2022 11:52

OP just a thought - do you have any grey jeans? I find them more versatile that blue for some reason. They look classy with cream/camel/beige and great with black or white. Also nice with dark red or navy.

Tadpoll · 01/11/2022 11:52

*than blue

drspouse · 01/11/2022 11:54

I like them with a nice blouse, or a bright fitted jumper (currently I'm very into bright pink).

shinynewapple22 · 01/11/2022 13:09

I rarely wear blue jeans in the winter - unless they are really dark denim . Light colour blue jeans for me is spring / summer wear . I would also rarely wear black jeans in summer though .
