What are these headaches ?

Every now and again I get these symptoms:-

  • wake up feeling groggy and with pain behind both eyes
  • sharp pain in one temple that worsens with movement. Mostly like a throbbing
  • pains lessens with paracetamol but doesn't disappear
  • on/off symptoms can last for a few days
  • mornings seem to be the worst

I feel it's getting worse and more frequent. These headaches can really affect my day. I'm 33 and don't smoke.

Does anyone have anything similar? Think a trip to the GP is needed !

Migraines? I get them and was told 900mg aspirin when it starts, really helps mine as paracetamol doesn't touch the sides. 3 of the 300mg aspirin tablets. Probably worth a gp visit too since getting worse and more frequent

I've started to keep a note of dates and think they may also be related to my menstrual cycle ? I hadn't noticed at first but wood make sense. I'll speak to the GP about the aspirin too!

Have you checked with the dentist if you are grinding your teeth. I had terrible morning headaches behind one eye for months, which the doctor thought were hormonal. Turns out was clenching my jaw at night. I now wear a mouth guard and rarely have headaches.

Need an eye test? Perhaps you need glasses

Hormonal migraines I’d say.

I get a really bad headache two days before my period.
Awful. I just ride it out with rest and painkillers and it goes when my period arrives. I'm 49.

I've just my eyes tested and all good - just need glasses for driving

Interesting about the teeth grinding 🤔will mention to the dentist .

The joys of being a woman ! Headaches and periods 😵‍💫😣

Definitely track against your cycle, sounds exactly like what I get 2 days before my period.

I started getting migraine type headaches and was then prescribed sumitriptan which worked most of the time.

A couple of years on a routine appointment then showed I had high blood pressure. Started taking amlopidine and the headaches completely stopped. Not sure if the headaches were caused by the HBP, or if the BP medication does something to prevent headaches. But might be worth getting your BP checked over a few weeks. Mine was always fine, but then became high for no apparent reason (GP said they suspect it’s age/pre menopausal!)

I also thought my headaches were hormonal btw

Teeth grinding/ jaw clenching here, especially on one side (which I think triggers a migraine)

majorcamaiden · 01/11/2022 01:29

Sounds like tension headaches to me. I get them quite often. Very similar to a migraine. It often feels like someone is pushing out through my temple behind my left eyeball. 😖

The only thing that helps to get rid of them for me is 600mg Neurofen and laying down in a dark room with a heat bag behind my neck and sometimes on my temples
