My IT skills are fairly basic so can anyone help me rectify the problem of my hotmail account not receiving emails from a gmail account.

I'm using a Samsung tablet if that's relevant. Have checked emails on another device and gmail messages aren't coming through on that either.

No idea how try to sort this out🤔

Have you spelt your email address correctly?

Are the emails going into spam? Also, are you sure you’ve got the correct address? Some addresses are @ hotmail while others are at outlook.

Those who reply to my hotmail email address spell it correctly.

The 'lost' messages from gmail accounts are not going into spam.

So open your hotmail account on a browser like chrome, ideally on a laptop.

Then open another browser tab and set up or login to your gmail account.

And send an email from hotmail to gmail and then reply..

That will troubleshoot the wrong address first.

Then look for filters on hotmail, see if at some point there has been a rule written to delete or put @gmail into trash or spam, or any other specific folders.

Do a search on your hotmail for @gmail, that may throw up a folder that is receiving the emails.

Other than a filter or redirect being set up, assuming hotmail is receiving emails from other email accounts the issue won't be IT hardware, I.e device linked.

It will be a filter of some kind.

Click on the 'gear' icon in outlook.com (top RH corner)
Click on 'View all Outlook settings'
In email settings click on 'Junk Mail'
There is a list of blocked senders, remove any gmail accounts. If gmail.com is in this list it will block any gmail.com address so be sure to remove that.
Maybe add gmail to the 'Safe Senders' list
