Anyone local who can recommend a restaurant for 60th birthday (not a party, just 5 of us), any cuisine, up to £50 per head not including drinks. Somewhere we can spend the whole evening, quiet enough to hear ourselves chat?

Monteforte is lovely, independent Italian, very generous sizes and a really wide range. Good selection of vegan options too

Miller & Carter steakhouse is quiet but it's a chain so not everyone's cup of tea

Buenos Aires steakhouse is a bit more unique. You can request to sit upstairs which tends to be quieter
