Cervical screening showing abnormal cells

Hi everyone, I'm writing here to see if I get more response than the health board. I've just received a letter showing I have borderline cell changes and hpv. I've been married for years and have never cheated. Neither has my DH. I just can't understand this. We are ttc and the screening was requested by the fertility clinic.

Has anyone been through something similar?

Yes I had that. It's not uncommon. I had a colonoscopy and it resolved itself. My next smear was normal.

Hpv can stay dormant for many years, it doesn't mean anyone cheated. Read Jo's Trust website for info it's really good.

You probably had a Colposcopy.

Hi op. Yes. I had a letter on new years eve 2021 saying I'm HPV positive and it didn't effect us with the ttc as I'm now 28 weeks pregnant. I have to have another smear 3 months after baby is born to check again! ❤️

It was still a shock however cos all other smears I've ever had have been normal, and I knew nothing about HPV but after a bit of research, I felt better and it was mad to think I've probably had it for years and not known! Apparently a lot of people have it and don't even know it! It's Apparently common ❤️

Thank you for all the advice and reassurance. I will call the doctor in the morning and book a colposcopy.

@Mumtobe2023 congratulations and good luck with the new arrival.
