Where can I buy same colour socks?!

This is likely to be the most boring thing I’ve ever posted on mumsnet, but I keep seeing the advice to buy socks in one colour/style for each child, to make the torture that is pairing a million socks easier. But I literally can’t find any- other than in white or black, everywhere I’ve looked has multipacks in all different colours/patterns. Does anyone know where I can get a multipack of identical socks for kids? Sorry, I said it was boring, any advice much appreciated!!

Buy the multipacks you've described, split them and give one all the stripey ones, one all the plain ones, one all the patterned ones?

Knittingnanny2 · 31/10/2022 13:16

I used to buy 6 pairs of multi packs which all had a different “ pattern” or stripe etc ( but the 6 packs had the same variations if you see what I mean), divide them into 3 piles, one for each boy. So boy one had all the eg striped ones, boy 2 the solid band of colour around the top and boy 3 the zigzag pattern. That was the nearest I ever got to being able to separate the sock pile! White sport socks were a bit easier, I just bought 3 different logos .
Maybe look on Amazon? They usually come up trumps for me if I’m looking for something random.

Haha cross post exactly with murasaki!

Heh, twin sock minds there

Knittingnanny2 · 31/10/2022 13:18

Mine is what I did in the 80’s and 90’s though so there might be far more up to date ideas!

40andfit · 31/10/2022 13:18

There is definitely a market for this!

Amazon!

Murasaki! I have to admit though that for a few teenage years I bought a job lot of supermarket black socks and just shoved an equal amount of pairs back in three drawers and never told them it might be be their “ own” pair. No one got ill or suffered trauma from it!
The Amazon coloured ones are a good idea 40andfit

I just don't match socks... I'm not sure my 3 year old knows socks are supposed to match 🙈

AMAZING! Thank you!

Hadn’t even thought of buying a few multipacks and splitting, mine are 2, 4 and 6 years now and not quite same size wise but great idea for future!

I recommend these, did a trial for them for mumsnet a year or two back, the socks are still going strong as soft as butter. www.sockshop.co.uk/products/sockshop-plain-bamboo-socks-with-gentle-grip-and-handlinked-toes-black?colour=Black

When you hit school age, they will all need the same, boring, coloured socks.
DH has blue or brown shade of multipacks.
DS1 has plain black
DS2 has black with coloured soles.
I have black with the pinkest soles I can find.

Madcats · 31/10/2022 14:06

Mumsnet did a trial of bamboo socks a while back. We ended up with 5 pairs of red socks (unsurprisingly they are very easy to spot in a pile of washing).

Ours have gone a bit bobbly, but are otherwise fine.

Not sure why the link above suggests black or white, but there are other colours.

murasaki · 31/10/2022 15:12

Dp and I both needed a sock drawer overhaul for winter. So we threw out everything, but I got to amazon first, so all mine are black but have coloured heels and toes,, and all socks that aren't that are his. Saves fighting over black ones as we used to do

murasaki · 31/10/2022 15:13

As kids, they were all black for school, so my dad just divided them into to 3 piles for me and my sisters, we didn't care...

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 03/12/2022 08:22

All four of us need black socks for work/school so I buy variations on that for each. Mine are black with coloured heels/toes, DD2 has black with patterns on the soles, DH has plain black, and DD1 has black trainer socks.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/12/2022 08:35

I’ve recently bought packs of same colour socks for Gdcs in M&S, but IIRC they were all dark grey, navy or white, for school.

There’s obviously a gap in the market for someone!

Shelby1981 · 03/12/2022 13:19

I also did the sockshop bamboo sock trial and ds loved them! We got 5 pairs of white so they are now his pe socks but I've since bought grey for school and then orange, purple, rainbow, all sorts!

5 pairs for £4.99, I'm always recommending them 😁
