What time is it acceptable to go guising in Scotland?

I didn't grow up here so not sure what is usual. In previous years I took DD guising from 7pm because DP (who is scottish) was adamant that if we went earlier we would disturb people having their dinner. This year I am taking DD plus 2 of her friends and I would like to start at 6pm. Is DP right that it is too early?

When we used to get guisers it was from around 6 - 7.30

People start about 6 here. I'm with your DH though - it does disturb dinner! I wish they'd hold off until 6.30 at the earliest!

I expect them as soon as it's dark

6pm is pretty standard. It’s all done by 8pm at the latest around here.

Yep it all starts around 5.30/6 here and done by about 7.30. Forecast tonight is rubbish where I am too so people might not be out as long as usual.

Thank you for the replies. I'll start at 6 this year.
