Fruit in a fruit bowl or fridge?

Where do you keep your fruit? Does it go off too quickly in a fruit bowl? I tend to forget about it if it's in the fridge. Trying to eat more fruit and veg!

Yes, I know this is probably the most boring thread that ever existed!

Bowl

apples
bananas
oranges
pineapple
plums if not ripe
pears

fridge

berries
grapes
peaches

I rotate. So I’ll put half the fruit in the fruit bowl and the remainder (not bananas) go in the fridge. Means I can buy enough fruit to last a month as apples/pears/melon/kiwi/plums etc last aaaages in the fridge.

I only buy berries during the week now

Most in a bowl, but bananas well away from other fruit, otherwise they go off too quickly. (Some sort of fumes given off by ripe fruit).

Exception here is Conference pears - I only like them when they’re still hard, so they go in the fridge to stop them going soft in no time.

IMO most fruit tastes much nicer at room temperature.,

apples should be in the fridge

only satsumas and bananas, oh and tomatoes , i keep out
soft fruit i would probably keep out

I only buy apples and bananas. My issue is space - the fridge is a mini and there’s no bench space for a fruit bowl. The apples stay in their carton in the very small gap above the fridge (it’s in a wall niche) and the bananas sit on top of the toaster.

Why?

Apples have been stored for hundreds of years before refrigeration.

A cool dark place is fine.

I put soft fruit in the fridge but get it out z few hours before I want to eat it so it comes up to room temperature.

In a fruit bowl in the fridge! Top shelf so can’t be missed.

We keep most fruit and veg in the fridge as we keep our house quite warm.

I like apples in the fridge as I like to eat them cold.
