Trick or treating question

If you don't finish work til 5/6, are you leaving a pot of sweets out before you leave?

I won't be home til 6:20 and I've just realised most trick or treaters come round my way between 5 and 7.

I want to leave sweets out for the earlier visitors. Not sure if I should though as they will be left there from 8am.

What are you all doing?

No, I definitely wouldn’t leave something out.

Montague22 · 31/10/2022 07:26

The actual pot might be taken if you do this. There’s a chance one group will take all. So either do it with this knowledge or remove decorations till you are home. Also save some of the treats for then.

The modern rule is you only visit decorated houses. I think you can expect trick or treaters up to 8.

I can't take the decorations down as dc insisted on window sprays and other things that can't be easily removed.

No. They take the whole lot. Just do it when you get home.

SpinningFloppa · 31/10/2022 08:26

No I wouldn’t do this they will take the whole lot, someone I know even had the bowl taken, this is the reason why I haven’t decorated my house my kids wanted me too but they also want to go out so didn’t decorate the house as people will knock.

Danikm151 · 31/10/2022 08:40

Well we had our pumpkins stolen last night because I didn’t answer the door as I was putting my son to bed.
a tub of sweets will definitely be taken

NeverHadANickname · 31/10/2022 08:47

Maybe leave a note on the door to say you will answer for trick or treaters from whatever time. If you are worried about people knowing the house is empty maybe say you'll be on a conference call until then. They might come back later.

Plumbear2 · 31/10/2022 08:55

Don't worry about it and just answer the door when you get home.
