Halloween – tell me your superstitions, traditions and folklore

I’m not a fan of how commercialised Hallowee’n has become but I love all the superstitions, traditions and folklore.

I remember as a kid bobbing for apples that had an initial carved on it – whichever one you managed to get had the initial of your future husband.

Another apple one – peeling an apple until the peel broke then you threw it over your shoulder and whatever shape it had landed in was the initial of your future husband.

Yet another apple one – going through the alphabet as you twist the stalk off an apple – whatever letter it breaks on is the initial of the man you’re going to marry but if you cut the apple and cut through a pip the marriage would be a stormy one.

Combing your hair 100 times at midnight then look over your shoulder into a mirror and you’ll see the face of your future husband.

Ouija boards!

The veil is thin on hallowee’n, particularly if it falls on a full moon.

I’d love to hear anyone else’s traditions or superstitions relating to Hallowee’n and if they relate to finding true love/your future husband I can try them out tomorrow
