Lost qualification certificates- wwyd

I know I must have had them as I started new jobs (contracts) in 2020 and in 2021 that needed them - I started a new job in august and they want to see them (should have seen them before I started) and I cannot find them anywhere - I’m not usually this disorganised they’ve been in the same place, in the same folder, for years. Now it’s gone and I seem to have developed an enveloping brain fog that’s stealing my memories.

The problem is that I’m 51 and took my O levels and A levels in the 80s - I can’t remember the exam boards and they don’t reissue certificates- I can probably order degree certificates for my degrees as do remember where I got those!

I’ve wondered if I can ask my last organisation if I can have their photocopies just to prove I have them. Is that possible.

Has anyone been in the same position? And does anyone have any advice?

We insist on all certificates. Far too many people enhance qualifications without them.

But if they have degree and above do you still want to see their o’level results from 1983, as well?

I was able to get the uni one direct from the university -they bizarrely sent me the wrong degree and gave me a masters - so seems ironic that employers want to see the certificate to avoid enhancement!

This happened to me so I did the search and paid for I think 2 GCSEs and 1 a level which is what they could find. I also paid for a new degree cert and I paid £120 for those 4 certs. I luckily found the originals because they would have been more difficult to trace and pay for.

I'm 62 and recently had to provide my O and A level certificates, plus degree for a casual job in a school...that's back to 1976, 78 and 81! Luckily I still have them.

Mine all burnt up in a house fire- along with most documents I had and there was not time to order the replacement ones. The job I was going for rang my old school to ask if they had any results on record for me and they took those. Have you asked the job if there is a way around it?

But if you have the university qualifications, what possible reason would you need o levels. Obviously the candidate had the relevant o and a level grades to get in to university. No one is enhancing anything if they are actually providing you with their university qualifications

I was advised that if any of my higher qualifications were in Maths or English I wouldn’t have to provide them. They weren’t.

I've lost mine in house moves, one job ever wanted them and I didn't get it anyway. (I have a degree and a level certificates but they wanted to see maths and English gcse go figure?
