I've got 16p in my purse and £2.47 in the bank . . . life is tough!

Luckily I've got food in the freezer.

How do you survive until next payday?

It’s horrid, I’m sorry for you and anyone else in this position.
I’m ok now but back in the 80’s with 3 small children and an emotionally and financially abusive now ex husband, I was often down to to 20p in my purse with no access to money.
I often managed to find coins in his pockets or dropped near the bed.
I did have to resort to borrowing money from a kind friend on a couple of occasions.
Its no way to live, I hope you are ok.

I’m sorry OP. I’m OK at the moment but I’ve been like this way too many times to count and it’s frustrating and miserable.

I’ve never had an overdraft and don’t really know much about those but I know enough about rooting down the back of the sofa and checking all old coats and pockets for change. And going for long walks to stay warm and for something to do. And going to sleep early to distract from being hungry.

Is there anything you can do online to give a little bit extra if you have some down time?

Remember being like this as student on occasion but somehow that seems nowhere near as bad as if push came to shove I could have phoned home. When you’re a fully fledged adult with a job and DC to support that’s really tough, and also unfair.

All the comments re. budgeting etc. are intended to be helpful I’m sure but reality is some people are just in a difficult situation due to cost of living.

Sounds like you have good and entertainment to last you a few days. Good luck 🤞

It really sucks, our budget leaves us to the edge of the overdraft every month.

I recently had literally nothing in the house food wise and had the biggest struggle trying to access help. Food banks were only open during my working hours, I couldn't get to community food groups due to work, I didnt have the bus fare to get to the free food places and olio the food kept going too fast. It really is scary, eventually my daughters school helped us out. But I now keep an emergency £20 hidden away incase it ever happens again and I've been keeping basics/tins topped up. It wasn't dinners I was struggling with, it was packed lunches for my girls.
