What's the time Mr Wolf....

whoknows2017 · 29/10/2022 21:11

I have no idea of the correct time - at the moment I am living in limbo

My DH has being going round changing the clocks - but not all of them - so I have no idea whether I am living in the present or the future - think it must be time for bed ....

As I post this, the time on my phone says 21:15

theydontspeakforus · 29/10/2022 21:15

Clocks go back at 2am.

I thought this was going to be about a game I played in the primary school playground! Can't exactly remember how it went but definitely recall chanting "what's the time Mr. Wolf" and being chased around shrieking. Anyone else remember this game or another one called Kiss Chase from the 1960s?

TheHauntedPencilCase · 29/10/2022 21:22

This is my first clock change as a solo parent and I've created the limbo myself as I have no idea which clocks change themselves...

Exactly this. The Wolf stands facing the wall. The other children line up and chant "what's the time Mr Wolf" and the Wolf says "4 o'clock" for example and all children take 4 steps forward. Then at some point the response to the question is "DINNER TIME!", the wolf turns around and chases the children back to teh starting point. First child to be caught is the next wolf.

Great fun and still a staple of Cubs/Brownies round this way.

Most definitely, Mr Wolf stood with his back to everybody else, and if he said it was 3 o'clock, you took three paces forwards and so on until he said dinner time and then he turned around and chased you all until he ate somebody for dinner 🤣

Hugasauras · 29/10/2022 21:28

Yes we play it at our weekly woodland classes. The kids love it! Lots of shrieking when it's dinner time Smile

Hugasauras · 29/10/2022 21:29

Speaking of kiss chase, we had kiss, cuddle or torture (the latter being both a kiss and a cuddle!). A playground favourite.

TheRookie · 29/10/2022 21:32

Why does everyone have so many clocks?

Smart phones are automatic so just wait until morning and match up clocks to smart phones?!

Cuck00soup · 29/10/2022 21:45

I was about to respond with DINNERTIME.

Honestly now I'm in my 50's I could just as easily go with bedtime at 8:40 new time in a Saturday night. So rock n roll.

I will forget one clock. I always do.

Sandysandwich · 29/10/2022 21:49

I go with a blissful ignorance to the clocks changing.
My phone is polite and does it itself, I own no physical clocks and I count it as a nice suprise when my car decides its the half of the year when it tells me the real time.

MissyB1 · 29/10/2022 21:53

We still play what’s the time Mr Wolf at the nursery I work in.

Does anyone remember another playground game called “The Farmers in his den”?

Pixiedust1234 · 29/10/2022 21:53

Ignore all clocks until morning, then only deal with the naughty ones who refused to change. You might be pleasantly surprised how few you have to do.

Or how many. Only our phones and tivo change so we keep finding naughty ones over the week 😣

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 29/10/2022 21:59

You're lucky you haven't got a sun dial. They're a bugger to adjust. 😫

Yes indeed. What would happen if there was only a cow shed on the right 😮

Have you found any escapees yet OP?
