Trying to message someone who hasn't updated whatsapp

Are problems likely if I have the latest version of whatsapp and they haven't updated it? I have two convos that have grey ticks from days ago which is unusual unless they are both insanely busy but at least one of them usually replies quite quick. One of them I know uninstalled whatsapp and installed an older version recently. One of these convos is quite important. Sorry I posted this in tech but it seems that is not very popular 😆

I don't think the version will make any difference. My wife never updates any apps on her phone and we use WhatsApp.

So they're just ignoring me then lol.

Could you try sending them a normal text message instead?

Yeah I had one earlier with someone else so I don't know..

I cannot get WhatsApp, instagram, Facebook etc (all meta) to connect. Maybe it’s just me?!!

They've got two ticks, profile pic etc 😟

It depends on their settings

If somebody messages me the two ticks remain grey even if I've seen/read the message

just send a normal text message ?

They've probably turned off 'read receipts'. It means you can't tell if the messages have been read.

Give them a call?

Hi OP, I can't use WhatsApp anymore as my phone is on an older operating system. I can't update my phone either as it's so out of date that when I plugged it into my computer iOS said 'no'! I'm hoping to get a second hand newer phone for Christmas. Bit of a pain as I'm now out of contact with most of my friends....I did message them though to warn them I'd not be available on WhatsApp for a while.
