Has anyone had their teeth whitened? What did you eat?

So I’ve just got back from dentist with a whitening kit. I’ve read the instructions and seen that I should only eat “white/light” foods for the two weeks it takes to do the whitening and also 48 hours after. I’ve googled white foods and it seems very limiting. Has anyone done this and how strict we’re you? I’m going away tomorrow so had planned to delay the start so but I’ve got a wedding in ten days and now wondering if I need to put it off further but it’ll be Christmas parties soon! Basically Two weeks is a long time is a long time to eat white foods, especially since I’m vegetarian!

I was told that if a food would stain if you dropped it on a white shirt, it would stain your teeth. I had a lot of mash for those weeks!!

Oh wow. Ok. I don’t want to waste my money or obviously stain my teeth so if it needs to be done it needs to be done but do you reckon it’d be ok to pause 2 days before a wedding so I can eat /drink as per normal and then resume the course the next day?

I did it - got by on rice pudding, cereal, rice, fish, any form of potatoes and far too much cheese, crackers and crisps! Plus white wine obviously 😁 Pale foods are fine, just avoid tomato soup, red wine, beetroot etc!

I couldn’t survive without coffee so drank it very carefully through a straw… a pain in the arse but it didn’t stain thankfully. One of the best things I’ve ever done getting my teeth whitened and definitely worth the effort.

It’s funny because I’ve made such an effort to cut down on white carbs and cheese in the last six months… brown rice will be fine though right?

Yes just avoid violently coloured food basically! Same as brown bread would be fine. It’s the type of foods you really wouldn’t want to drop on your carpet for permanent staining basically.
