So, who else has stupidly changed a tampon after chopping a hot chilli

I'm an idiot. I chopped up the little Green chillis, washed my hands thoroughly, but forgot that even if you wash your hands your fingers still have chilli residue on them for ages, so you shouldn't rub your eyes...or elsewhere.

Very unpleasant experience.

I found this out the hard way too. My sympathies.

Brogues · 28/10/2022 16:14

Ouch. Hope it cools quickly!

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 28/10/2022 16:14

No experience but just wanted to pass on my sympathies. 😬

I think most people who have handled chillis have done this. See also contact lenses...

Can't quite decide whether contact lenses or tampon/mooncup was the worst one.

Can strongly recommend CSI/surgical gloves for dealing with chillis!

IreneJones · 28/10/2022 16:16

Always wear gloves when chopping chillies!

cassianroared · 28/10/2022 16:21

Omg I bet moon cup was worse, that's a bit more rummaging than a tampon.

I'm still uncomfortable and feeling a bit spicy down there but nowhere near as bad as when I first did it.

Nice to know I'm not the only idiotic female that has done this!

Oh god contact lenses sound awful!

Haha, oh no! If only I'd seen that thread before doing this.

Well, I suppose getting to 39 before accidentally doing this isn't too bad going.

I haven't done this, but when I was a lot younger I shared a flat with a group of lads. One of them rubbed deep heat on his legs before going to bed one night, had a little "fondle" in bed and went rushing to the bathroom trying not to scream too loud!

I found plain yogurt helped.

Karmakamelion · 28/10/2022 16:37

Or after using tiger balm.....

Fuckallthetories · 28/10/2022 16:57

Oh op this is mn GOLD!

when I was little, my mam gave me a pot of chilli powder to put in a curry for me uncle and I spilled it all over the counter, I tried to sweep it up in my hands and then I cried because i knew me uncle loved spicy curry and then I went to wipe my eyes and I got chilli powder in them. Mammy did laugh. I was screaming that me eyes were on fire for at least 24 hours.

I did this just before dashing to a waiting taxi. It took a couple of minutes to start hurting by which time we were driving and there was nothing I could do! It was a very very very uncomfortable taxi journey!
