Made.com - if you have an open order, are you worried?

Made.com are on the verge of collapse and stopped taking new orders yesterday. I ordered a sofa from them a few days ago, so now I'm wondering whether I will get it. Anyone else in the same boat? I could cancel the order, but I'm still hoping to get the sofa if possible.

If you can cancel now and get a refund I'd do that immediately. It might survive and you can reorder in a week or two but there is no way I'd be giving my money to that company right now.

Did you pay by credit card? You'll be protected if you did. Tbh I'd just cancel.

SpookyPanda · 28/10/2022 08:34

Cancel if you can. The shit has hit the fan.

Malfi · 28/10/2022 08:40

If you can cancel, do so now.

BarbaraofSeville · 28/10/2022 09:04

Whether or not you get the sofa will depend on whether or not they keep supplying them.

As for your money, it's likely that Moneysaving Expert will issue 'advice for Made.com customers' which will cover Section 75 protection and chargebacks, so look out for that, or the generic advice on this already on their website.

As an aside, there's likely to be more insolvencies over the next few years, so the best thing to do to protect yourself is to pay some or all of the cost by credit card if you can. It's really valuable protection and a good reason to pay for as much as possible that way.

So many times I see people complaining about a consumer issue and at the same time say 'I don't have a credit card, I don't need one' in the same breath as complaining about a problem that would have been much easier to solve if they'd had a credit card. Confused

I paid by credit card, so I'm not too worried about getting the money back. I just don't want to wait weeks before eventually being told they can't supply the sofa. They haven't emailed existing customers to warn them, but when I emailed them they replied to say "we’re working really hard with our suppliers and logistics providers to deliver outstanding items to customers as soon as possible". Hopefully that means I'll get the sofa. But let's see.

Very very unlikely that you’ll receive the sofa. They might get an 11th hour deal but it’s unlikely. I would cancel and get a refund

In that case, I'd cancel now. You won't get your sofa. They'll have to pay off major creditors first and your single sofa is going to come a long way down the list.

If you can still cancel I would do that now.

Hi paid for a shoe rack in June - I am still waiting for it to be delivered. On last contact with Made, a few weeks ago they confirmed it had yet to be manufactured and it would be delivered spring 2023. That’s 8 months after ordering. I then requested a refund, but in those interim weeks their impending collapse was announced. Refund has not come through so I’ll be claiming back via the credit card.

Audioslaw · 30/10/2022 23:16

Oh no. Sad to hear this, loved their stuff

CarPoor · 30/10/2022 23:19

I am worried but apparently my order is now with the courier and arriving next week. It was allegedly dispatched on Friday. We shall see.

They aren't accepting cancellations right now, but you should be able to get your money back through your credit card if necessary. I can let you know if my order arrives this week

feellikemyselfagain · 04/11/2022 12:19

Made.com confirmed to money saving expert that they're going to deliver outstanding orders

Startuplife · 04/11/2022 12:24

Does that include orders that are still at the shipping stage though? We’ve got a sofa bed currently shipping and due to be dispatched 2nd December. I’d rather just cancel now and order from somewhere else to make sure we have one for Christmas but they’re not letting you cancel orders at the moment.

feellikemyselfagain · 04/11/2022 12:39

All orders placed before 26th october apparently. I haven't got the link to hand as I'm at work but if you google made.com money saving expert you should be able to find it

CarPoor · 08/11/2022 08:13

Just to let you know my made.com order was delivered, in good condition when they said! So gives hope to others

CarPoor · 08/11/2022 08:14

It was delivered end of last week
