Romantic books suggestions

I feel like reading some sort of very gentle love story today. I don't know exactly what I'm looking for but I know what i don't want. Can anyone suggest anything? Something that is available as a Kindle book on Amazon?

My "requirements"

  1. No or not much explicit sex
  2. No annoying characters (I'd explain it better if I knew what I meant myself).
  3. Fantasy or historical would be great but not vampire, werewolf, etc stories. More along the lines of tolkien
  4. Nothing scary and no gore

I think I'm thinking of something like the romance between eowyn and Faramir but maybe longer than 2 pages. The love story doesn't have to be central or the main story.

Any ideas?

Or maybe something along the lines of Jane Eyre or Howards End. I liked room with a view too. So maybe any em Forster. I'd love to read something with elves actually or fairies. Sorry I know I'm not making any sense. I'm absolutely exhausted and feel like I need some chicken soup for the soul.

Philippa Gregory’s Wideacre Trilogy might hit the spot

No elves or fairies though…

The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery - lovely and probably free on kindle.

Anything by Eva Ibbotsen - described somewhere as books for when the thinking woman has the flu.

Have you read Katherine by Anya Seton?
