How often do you see and socialise with friends?

I have a few friends who are always on the go, seeing their friends.

They seem to have coffee/ lunch etc 3-4 times a week as well as doing classes, looking out for elderly parents, etc.

I live in the sticks so it's harder for me to see them anyway. But I'm also slightly envious that they have such a big pool of friends.

On the other hand I sometimes feel a bit envious and wonder if I'm the weird anti social one.

Maybe I'm more introverted than I think!

When I was a SAHM I used to meet someone at least once a week - lunch, coffee, shopping etc

Now I'm working I tend to meet someone once or twice a month on my day off or during the evening. That suits me, I'm fairly introverted so would struggle with several times a week!

I don’t have a big group of friends but I have a handful of people who I’ve known for years who I meet up with individually or in twos. I usually end up going out with friends 1-2 a month. Some I see more often, eg I have one friend I see most months and some I might only see once a year with others somewhere in between.

I have different groups of friends and do something socially every weekend. Sometimes during the week too if there's something special on, but I don't generally have the energy after work for socialising.

I'm amazed some of you are seeing friends several times a week. I find people are so busy with work and kids and general life!

General life is where friends come in I think. Today I'm meeting a friend for a walk on our lunch hour and then I'm seeing two other friends at a gym class after work tonight.

I don’t have any friends so no one to socialise with.

This!

Yes, I think it depends what you mean by 'see and socialise with friends'.

So, if I go to a hobby - say a choir or a netball team or playing badminton - each week, are you counting that as "seeing and socialising" ?
Or if I have a long chat with someone for an hour or more on my way home from work, as we get the same bus/ train / lift share - does that count ?

If this is about 'social contact, and chatting with people who would spot if I wasn't there, then the answer is very different from "arranging to meet someone for the SOLE purpose of meeting them" IYSWIM.

The first camp - the answer is many times a week. The second camp, far less frequently.

I saw three friends last week but just one this week. I also saw friends at the community garden I volunteer at last week but couldn’t attend this week as was having my covid booster.

in the summer most days as we are in a motorbike club so there are our own meetings ,other clubs meetings, bike shows most weekends, rallies, club ride outs from october to april not so many goes down to maybe once or twice a week lockdown made me realise how often we are out but then again older couple with no children at home

Comedycook · 28/10/2022 14:43

I wonder if it's different depending on your stage in life. If you have small children then you might often meet up with other mums and their kids and if you're retired, your friends may also have stopped working and be around to meet up.

3-5 times a week, but I have no kids.
