My son is 24 today...

Not really much of a post, just a proud parent moment......

I am staggered at where 24 years have gone.
Doesn't seem 5 minutes since I was taking him to school and now he's a support worker looking after adults with a range of mental and learning disabilities, got a nice girlfriend and is just a lovely, thoughtful, kind, generous man.

He had a really shitty year last year where he tried to end his life, but he's fought back and is doing better than ever...

He is most definitely my greatest love and biggest achievement.

Thank you. I've tried my hardest as a single mum for 20 years. It's been bloody challenging at times, but unbelievably rewarding now he's doing well.

My ds is 19 in January, like you it doesn't seem 5 minutes since he was a baby & him starting school seems to have gone in a flash. I loved the time after I had just split from his dad & we got our first home together. It was the first time I actually felt like a proper mum, he was 6 & for the first time I was doing the school run, going shopping, doing the housework, I had to give up work due to ill health having worked since he was 9 months old. He has left home this year, moved in with his partner, I miss him desperately.

I know what you mean. I've loved it being just him and I. We've always got on so well, more like friends (but being a mum when it's needed).

I am dreading when he decides to move out. I feel for you.

@Fentylipgloss , my DS is 24 and living at home after university because near to his training for the job he would like to do. I love having him here and I know he will move out at some point - & it is natural and and and - but by golly I will miss him. BUT I do get your point - at the weekend when we watch a film together or whatever we laugh like drains and get on .

So Many congratulations to your son My DB and DSIL both work in mental health areas DB more research DSIL a nurse who travels a great deal to see clients . Hard job . I am so pleased you DS is doing well. Sometimes those who have been through it are best placed to do well - I know this from.DB

But 💐to you (whispers - I think my son is handsome too. It amazes me that some catwalk in Milan or Vogue have not picked him up 😂)
