Holidaying alone without Dh

Can anyone recommend a warm sunny place to go, beach and a pool preferably. I'm female in my 50s and I'll be on my own.
I would like to go somewhere I feel safe, not worried about being 'hit' on, as not looking for romance.
I just want some sun, a pool, a beach, close to a town, not nightlife particularly. Perhaps a hotel with entertainment?
And not more than 2-3 hours away.
Any ideas?

Majorca or Menorca

RandomMess · 26/10/2022 17:30

Canary Islands if you stay away from the party spots

Realityloom · 26/10/2022 17:32

I went to Portugal 1st week of Oct weather was good. I think it's only really the canaries. Tenerife Costa Adeji is a nice part. Flight time is more than 3 hours I think!

Cala D’Or Majorca . Safe , pretty and just a lovely place to go to .I went there in June for a chill week and it was bliss.

m00rfarm · 26/10/2022 17:38

Algarve - Carvoeiro, ferragudo for example. Ideal.

clareykb · 26/10/2022 17:43

Malaga area but head east towards Frigliana, Nerja erc ...opposite direction to Torrmillenos etc.

glamourousindierockandroll · 26/10/2022 17:46

Ibiza is my absolutely favourite place. There are places that have nothing to do with clubbing or partying - not my scene at all. Cala Llonga is beautiful.

Ocean hill hotel in Gran Canaria is adult only and popular with solo travellers. We had a swim up room and it was amazing - so peaceful but in close proximity of shops, night life and beaches

Southern France or the non night club parts of the Balearics. You'll meet them on the plane though, probably.

Words · 26/10/2022 17:51

Oh yes Algarve too.

Soozikinzii · 26/10/2022 17:53

Cavtat Croatia is a lovely classy place

Toomanysleepycats · 26/10/2022 17:55

I’ve thought of this. I reckon I would go to an all inclusive resort that has a sandy beach and a heated childrens pool.

All inclusive so that I could eat the meals in my room, or take myself off to a quiet spot in the gardens or beach. I just don’t fancy eating all my meals alone in a restaurant.

The other idea I fancy is booking a yoga/or wellness retreat. Supplement for single room, yoga etc in the morning, lazing by pool or joining in for walks etc in the afternoon. Communal meal in the evening.

At this time of year you need to look as far south as possible for the heat. Crete would be a possibility otherwise it’s North African coast.

This is assuming that you’d be going for the rest and not a sightseeing holiday, although most hotels do do group excursions.

I stayed at Melia Salinas on Lanzarote earlier this year and thought what a good place it would be for a solo holiday. Adults only, slightly older crowd, excellent all inclusive and good, low-ish key entertainment every night. Highly recommended.

Star81 · 26/10/2022 17:56

Puerto pollensa , Majorca

minidancer · 26/10/2022 18:00

Palma......lovely old town, beach and no transfer time

pumpkinelvis · 26/10/2022 18:45

I've just been looking at Montenegro and I really want to go. Hotels look gorgeous and scenery is stunning.

Ratched · 26/10/2022 18:50

I go to Puertoo del Carmen in Lanzarote every October on my own.
I LOVE it.
I self cater, always a small bungalow halfway between the old town and the strip.
I swim in the sea every day, read loads of books, have lovely meals out and a few fab nights, good music, great company.
I have never felt any threat at all, lots of Irish around when I'm there, so always company if you want it😁

I come back feeling so high every year - my treat to me!

workingeverysingkeday · 27/10/2022 15:41

Algarve for sure
