Stocking filler ideas

So for Christmas this year my partner and I have decided to just do stockings for each other. We're going to fill up each other's stockings with as many little thoughtful things as we can rather than worry about a bigger present that neither of us really want or need.

My ideas for him so far are:

A little book about various walking routes/hill climbing routes in our local area,
Marzipan,
Some of his favourite dark chocolate,
Little pots of jam,
Coffee beans (any recommendations here? I don't drink coffee but he goes all out and likes the best stuff)

What else might be nice to put in his stocking? I'll definitely put a couple of satsumas, nuts, and chocolate coins in there too.

Is anyone else doing this for Christmas, what are you getting for your family's stockings?

There's a brilliant post about this on the Christmas board so you might want to check that out. Maybe have a look for local coffee producers so you can buy him a local roast, there's lots about nowadays.

For coffee I like The Algerian Coffee Stores, or Footprint Coffee. Footprint will put a name on the packet for you, which is nice for a stocking.
Socks are traditional.. good wool ones, or mohair walking socks ?
If he walks a lot then maybe some face balm or lip balm to protect from the weather ? Weleda skin food is good, my DH uses it.
A novel.
A little magnifying glass, the folding pocket type.
Seeds, if he grows things, or small garden tools like secateurs.

We use Pact coffee which is the best (we have three types of coffee machine and drink it all day every day!)

I always put a soap in my husbands stocking but only one that I like the smell of! (so no Molton brown)

Usually some tickets to a comedy gig.

Socks

Facial Moisturiser from somewhere nice - clarins etc.

A gardening thing - seed dibber or similar.

Fancy beard oil*/soap/hand-wash

DH and I always do this for each other. He'll be getting Dear Green coffee beans, a new water bottle (needed), heat holder socks because he always has cold feet, mini Negronis (his favourite cocktail), some sort of picture related gift (a picture made into a mug/mouse mat type thing - he loves family photos), a Moleskine notebook because they're his favourite... most of these things are pretty generic but also personal to him if that makes sense?

If your partner is into walking then Skin Food is a great suggestion, or is there anything else he needs/would appreciate? Compass/headtorch/leatherman/hip flask...?

I'd go edible, does he enjoy cooking? Maybe something like flavoured nuts, an interesting flavoured oil or vinegar, chutney, bacon/chilli jam, the fancy pork scratchings or biltong, all the sort of bits you'd get an artisan farmers market or deli.

Does he enjoy any particular author? Any hobbies?

You guys have already given me some great ideas.

We have a local market every month here so I'll make sure to get him jam from there. And I like the idea of tickets for something and a photo gift. We have a one year old so plenty of ideas for a photo gift there Smile
