Anyone else got a teenager they rarely see?

I have two, a 14 year old who is around the family a lot, but the 16 year old I barely see. Sometimes it feels like I only have 1 child living at home as we see so little of the eldest. Is this normal?

@RiaOverTheRainbow He will occasionally watch a film with us. One of the issues is the things he wants to do, we can't do as a family as both my DD and DP are now disabled. So there are a lot of limits. But there isn't a great deal I can do about that.

Yup, a 19 yo just gone to uni and a 16.5 yo, both boys. They're lovely, happy, well adjusted, sociable, friendly humans who also love to hole up in their rooms emerging only for food. They do also go out occasionally, have good friends and lovely girlfriends & older DS had a p/t job.
I was the same as a teen in the late 80s/early 90s - totally normal.

I'm not sure we'd have allowed ours to not be part of family, to be honest. It never really came up though.

Do you not see him because he's closeted in his room? If so that's normal and will end.
Or is he not at home? That's a bit more concerning, do you know exactly where he is at all times?

Seems normal to me and DH says he was the same as a teenager. I did more stuff with my mum but I was a girl. But I spent a lot of time chilling in my room/on the family computer as well!

DS1 is 14 and spends time out with friends or playing games in his room. He will come and chat after school probably 1-2x a week. Doesn't want to join us in family activities at the weekend (younger ones are 1 and 4) and we don't insist.
