Dh has to go to Liverpool for a work thing in a couple of weeks so thought we would make a night/day of it.
Has anyone got any recommendations for fancy hotel and places to eat.
Is the Albert Dock still nice for a walk round?

Liverpool is lovely!

Where are you staying?

What is your budget?

CakeIsNotAvailable · 24/10/2022 23:22

Just realised you wanted a hotel recommendation. We really liked the Titanic Hotel, though it's a short taxi rife away from the centre.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 24/10/2022 23:26

Recently stayed in The Resident and dined in Bacaro and Belzan.

caffelattetogo · 24/10/2022 23:40

Hope street hotel and eat at the art school.

Get him to show you the gents in the Philarmonic Dining Rooms.

Only Grade 1 listed urinals in Britain.

Good pub as well.

PeacheyPeach · 25/10/2022 17:40

Ooh I'd heard about the the Titanic. Is that on Albert Dock?

I like the Malmaison Hotel and the Hotel Indigo.

Try Mowgli at Bold Street or their other one at Water Street is a bit fancier and bigger.

bravotango · 25/10/2022 18:07

Food at the Albert Dock isnt great. Previous suggestions of Belzan and Baccaro are good, plus Mowgli. Pen Factory is good for cheaper eats and on Hope St where the Phil pub is. If you can afford it stay at Hope St Hotel!

30 James street or the shankley, zenn for food & drinks.

ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou · 25/10/2022 18:20

For amazing food, but more informal surrounds, there's a fab Lebanese family run place on Bold St.

Also really amazing coffee on the rope walk... String and something? Will try and find names!

ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou · 25/10/2022 18:23

OK- 'Bakchich' and 'Ropes and Twine'.

Bakchich is 'dry', but they do incredible fresh fruit juices which go so well with all the grilled meat.

Also another vote for either of the Mowgli restaurants - fucking incredible food.

Hotel indigo is lovely!

Dippydinosaurus · 25/10/2022 18:28

We wanted to stay the titanic but it was fully booked. We stayed at the Hilton which was very central. Sapporo's is an amazing place to eat. Hope Street hotel is nice too and the bars around there are great

mamabear715 · 25/10/2022 18:30

I'm hoping to go soon too, this is great!

bravotango · 25/10/2022 21:48

Also if you stay at Hope St Hotel, you can walk around the Georgian Quarter, and down through town (via the bombed out church) to the Tate, have a drink around the dock and then walk back up to Hope St (via Bold st) and get some tea

PeacheyPeach · 25/10/2022 22:24

Ooo thanks everyone for the ideas am going to Google everything now 😄

Titanic is in the Dock area, but a mile or so out of town - it's not handy for bars/restaurants so you'll need to get a taxi if you want to drink while you're out. That said, it's my favourite hotel in Liverpool.

I see a previous poster has recommended Sapporo - I went there when younger and loved it, but went back with DH recently and was underwhelmed. I wouldn't go back in a hurry.
