Ideas for at home party!

Hi everyone, I want to plan an at home party for my daughter who'll be 6 in Jan. Really like idea of a disco party but am loathe to fork out for the cost of a hall party (it's £70 for 3 hire hall hire round here, plus £200 for an entertainer...) . I am warming to the idea of designing something at home because of cost. If it's at home I can make it a drop off but in a hall parents would probably stay and I am not brave enough to lead party games in front of a load of parents, hence an entertainer if it's in a hall! Plus if it's in a hall we might as well invite the whole class too.
So basically...has anyone got any ideas for stuff they've done for at home parties in a SMALL (!) house in winter?? Happy to put in lots of effort in designing games/treasure hunts/whatever.
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Don’t invite the whole class. 12 is a nice number.
Ask the parents about any dietary requirements when you send the invites.
Musical bumps/statues/chairs(or cushions), pass the parcel (make sure there is one layer per child and keep a track of who’s had a turn), squeak piggy squeak and the chocolate game usually go down well with 6 year olds.
Play a few unusual games too, like the doughnut on a string challenge, strawberry shoelace race, shoebox shuffle and guess who’s hiding.
Not all children will enjoy all of the games same games and some children can get bored easily, especially if a game isn’t going their way. It’s far better to have too many games than too little – you don’t have to play them all!
Make sure you have planned sufficient indoor games (or at least games that are adaptable for indoors) in case of rubbish weather.

I’d say if your house is small maybe just invite another 5, 6 is a nice number!
pinata if you can fit one in; a craft type of activity (could be ceramics painting or biscuit decorating and then get to take these things home along with a little party bag), some traditional games like pass the parcel and a treasure hunt. Finger sandwiches and cakes, crisps and sausage rolls, platter of fruit, all wrapped up in 2 hours.

Our best party was when DD was 8.

Village hall, spooky halloween decs, whole class invites, lots of running and chasing games. Hotdogs and cakes.
The kids absolutely loved it and it was cheap, easy and cheerful. Don't worry what the parents think!

Thank you so much, loving all these ideas! The ideas for the at home party games are absolutely perfect and they have given me a lot of inspiration.
@Reallycomplicatedpants when you did the hall one did you do all the games yourself? I love the idea but the thought of all the parents standing round at the edge while I am prancing about trying to lead party games fills me with dread!!!

Yes I did. Simple stuff - grandma's footsteps, duck duck goose (or zombie, zombie ghost) - the kids loved it. Good old fashioned fun - rope some of the parents in! One of the best memories was my brother, with a toddler in his arms, being chased around the outside of a ring of children followed by a dad from school!

Hi,

My husband is colourblind so literally of no help! My period isn’t due for 5 days, am I imagining things or is this a faint line?
