DS16 has announced he's standing against JRM in the next general election. Ideas for his manifesto?

DS told me that when he leaves school in 2 years time that he's going into politics and will stand against Jacob Rees Mogg (our local MP) in the next general election as an independent.

Any (lighthearted) ideas for a teenager's manifesto ?

No but, I'll cheering him
On from a constituency further west!

StrataZon · 24/10/2022 18:09

Well as it's a constituency that likes an MP to live in the 1870s he could offer to bring it bang up to date - 1950s should be sufficient

Every time he's stamped his feet and said something "isn't fair " I've told him that I don't make the laws of our country.

I expect his manifesto will have something about

  1. Making it illegal to get out of bed before midday.
  2. That gaming should be on the national curriculum.

School councils always have something on about fixing the state of the school toilets. Every school seems to have terrible toilets. So a teen MP could finally get that up the government agenda.

If he stood solely on the platform "I'm not Jacob Rees Mogg" he'd hopefully win a landslide.

I agree with the "I'm Not Jacob Rees Mogg" as a winning leaflet line.

he could back it up with some bullet points to support his statement e.g.

  • I don't put my feet up at work
  • I know what century it is
  • none of my children have silly names [unless they do]

My ds would definitely vote for the 2nd. (he's 15yo)

Although banning school would also be pretty high on his agenda.

MrsMoastyToasty · 24/10/2022 20:07

@MargaretThursday maybe your DS could be Minister for Education (or lack thereof).

Is he serious about standing? He mustn't split the progressive vote...

Does he understand most independents lose their deposits?

FleecyMcFleeceFace · 24/10/2022 20:10

Go, OP's ds!!

RedWingBoots · 24/10/2022 20:13

His supporters don't include his nanny.

balalake · 24/10/2022 20:25

Are there local issues he could start to campaign on?

EndlessMagpies · 24/10/2022 20:30

He needs to promise that he will never, ever wear a top hat.

TheHauntedPencilCase · 24/10/2022 20:32

I don't care what his manifesto is i would move to where you live to vote for him!

itsgettingweird · 24/10/2022 20:51

If he feels there no chance of getting JRM out send him our direction.

I'll vote for anyone decent who isn't my MP - Braverman!

@MrsMoastyToasty

He'd love that. GCSEs cancelled and the tyranny of school is finished. It would save a lot of money too. He'd probably convert the playing fields to football fields too.
