Thoughts? Are these two even on good terms? 😂

If he gives BJ a job in his cabinet then he’s as fucked up as the rest of them. Please gods no - let this be the beginning of the descent into political obscurity for that odious cretin.

sashagabadon · 24/10/2022 15:10

I doubt it

GCAcademic · 24/10/2022 15:11

Very unlikely. Sunak seems committed to stability and is hardly going to invite chaos to the table.

CruCru · 24/10/2022 15:13

No way. Inviting Boris to join the cabinet would be inviting a lot of drama. Sunak is going to want to give the impression of stability and professionalism. He won’t want the distraction that Boris will be (at least not for now).

Kabbalah · 24/10/2022 15:14

Sunak will shit himself every time somebody mentions Boris.

asblindasabat · 24/10/2022 15:20

Maybe Rishi will be generous and give Liz Truss a place in the cabinet 😜

this must mean Therese Coffey will no longer be Deputy and Health Sec!

No way. Boris would create drama and be a distraction and bring it even more into disrepute.

ajandjjmum · 24/10/2022 15:41

I do hope he gives Johnny Mercer the Vets role back!

He said that he would build a cabinet of talents. So no.

IceandIndigo · 24/10/2022 15:46

I can't see that happening, it's obvious there's no love lost between those two. If as has been reported Boris asked Rishi to stand down in return for being his deputy he's hardly going to settle for the same arrangement the other way around, I don't think his ego could take it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2022 15:48

If Sunak hopes to have any credibility at all, he won't touch Johnson, Truss, Mogg or Nads with the longest of barge poles.

FuckabethFuckor · 24/10/2022 15:50

Very unlikely. I can't think of a time that a former PM has been asked to come back in a Cabinet role. They tend to either amble across to the Lords or remain as backbenchers (like Brown and May have both done).

More likely that Johnson will be bumped upstairs at the soonest opportunity, just to get him out of the Commons because he's such a divisive and problematic figure for the Tories now.

MavisChunch29 · 24/10/2022 15:50

A clue: no.

Konfetka · 24/10/2022 15:51

Not a chance.

Chancellor? 🤞🏻

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 24/10/2022 15:59

I think pushing Boris into the Lords would be a good idea. He's lazy and motivated by glory. In the Lords there is ample opportunity for the former and minimal opportunity for the latter. He'll make a big rambling speech once a year, turn up just enough to claim the money, and spend the rest of his time writing for the Speccie and Telegraph about how Rishi is getting it all wrong.

I don't relish the idea of having him in the Lords as I actually think the function of the Lords is important but it's where he'll cause the least damage. He won't be content with back bench politics.

balalake · 24/10/2022 15:59

No, and hopefully whatever recommendation is made by the Privileges Committee on Mr Johnson will have his support.
