I've arrived at Heathrow from Cairo and my onward flight to Scotland has been cancelled. There's no option to get home tonight. I can't see on the BA website what the compensation rules are if I book a hotel. Any advice? 😢

I missed a connecting flight once (last flight of the day) and I was put up in a hotel. This was with KLM. Have you booked your journey as Cairo to Scotland with BA? If yes, go find a member of BA staff.

SobranieCocktail · 23/10/2022 22:37

Yes It was all with ba. Can't find any staff 🤯

Speak to a staff member. Would think they should arrange something. I know Easyjet did when we were delayed over night.

Just to clarify: delay was KLMs fault and they arranged the hotel and booked me onto the first flight the following morning. The delay compensation 'solution' could all be seen in the app. Lots of travellers were affected.

I think I read there have been some comms outages, due to storms in the UK. Hope you find someone soon

This might help www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-delays/#stuckatairport

In a nutshell:
You're entitled to accommodation if needed. If delayed overnight you're entitled to a hotel, and the airline must also provide transport to and from it. Ideally it would book the hotel so always check first, but if it's unable to help, try to find a reasonably priced one and keep all receipts – again it's unlikely to cover a luxury hotel.

Good luck!

Just looked on BA website. Apparently if you login and go to Manage my Booking you can see options available to you.

Or this phone number looks to be 24h:

They're trying to book us from LCY tomorrow evening! Argh.

Could you jump on the train?

At 11pm? From Heathrow to somewhere in Scotland? Are you serious?

BrownMilk · 23/10/2022 23:16

Been in this position with BA some time ago and they organised a hotel and transport (to hotel and back to Heathrow next day). Had to find a customer service person but they were reasonably helpful.

And remember you may also be eligible to claim compensation (even if they sort out the accomodation/ meals/ transport for you).

I guess a bonus day in London isn't a good thing. I hope you find a bed for the night.
