Manager told staff I was at an interview! What now?

So I told my manager I needed a hour off to attend an interview, work in a school so this is the way things are done, everyone does the same and it’s perfectly ok to do so.

He asked if it was confidential and I replied it was, he thanked me for being honest.

Then another senior person approached me and asked how it went, I asked if manager had told them and they said yes looking rather caught out.

I now have to speak to the Manager - but what do I say?

Why don't you just say what you've said and say I thought we agreed it was confidential - please don't tell other people if we've agreed its not for Sharing?

'I was really disappointed that you shared my confidential information with X. Can you assure me that you haven't told anyone else please?'

I’m hurt more than anything I trusted him! This is just the nail in the coffin for me!
Seriously considering not telling them about the next interview

My line manager did this to me.

I told her as a heads up before I spoke to my head, but she over rode me and went to my head first.

I was so pissed off. My head wasn't happy and had a go at me for wanting to move ConfusedIn hindsight, I should have whistleblown for the way she spoke to me.

Anyway, I'm at a different school now and so much happier.

Don't tell your manager about the next one until after the interview unless the school you're applying to ask for references beforehand. I've heard of so many teachers accepting jobs elsewhere without even telling their current schools about their interviews.

Thank you - did you tell her you knew they’d broken confidence? I’m seriously tempted to do this!

Yeah she said 'oh it just came up'.

I didn't trust her after that.
