Feel like something stuck in throat

I woke up a few nights ago with what I thought was a 'rough' throat but it's not sore. It feels as though something is stuck in it, but there's nothing there. I can swallow food and drink fine but I keep waking up in the night panicking a bit about it. It just feels like I need to cough up a furball or a big bit of phlegm but there is nothing there. I've read about Globus, does anyone have any advice? It's taking up far too much of my thoughts right now.

Could you scratched it OP? A too crispy crisp or a fish bone at wrong angle can catch and make.you feel pretty miserable. I went to A and E convinced something was stuck and they looked and found a big scratch.

Could it be tonsil stones?

I got that and was told by my gp it’s a symptom of post nasal drip.

It comes and goes but it’s horrible.

I thought tonsil stone too, I've had this feeling before but could see the stone by shining a really bright torch in the back of my mouth. I had to use tweezers to remove it. It was oddly satisfying, the relief was instant but my goodness it stank!!!

I get this when my anxiety/stress is heightened. It then worries me, which only makes it worse 😐

Could be oral thrush. You can buy Daktarin gel or the Fluconazole capsule from the pharmacy. You don’t necessarily have to have the white coating for it to be thrush.

It could be reflux/heartburn. I get this occasionally and omeprazole sorts it out in a week.

Yup, bastard anxiety.

My daughter had this. Turns out it's tonsillitis !

Soontobe60 · 23/10/2022 14:14

Could be a tonsil stone. I thought I’d got a fish bone stick, GP sent me to A+E and an ENT doc removed… a stinky stone!

or nasal drip. I get this - take an antihistamine daily and it should go away.

Ginger1982 · 23/10/2022 16:28

Thanks everyone. Possibilities I hadn't thought of. I didn't even know tonsil stones existed! I'll maybe try an anti histamine first and if no change, try my GP.

So, I've had another look and I can definitely see what I think is at least one tonsil stone. I have a really bad gag reflex though so I've tried to get to it and I can't.

Hi op, I have had covid twice and each time I had this something stuck in my throat feeling! Not saying it is, but it was a covid symptom for me.

Ritz3012 · 07/07/2023 22:11

I have the same feeling for few weeks now
definitely can’t live like this need to get it sorted

Ginger1982 · 08/07/2023 05:29

Hey, it actually just went away on its own after a few days. Really weird!
