I wondered if i could ask some advice from other parents as I just don’t know who to ask. Please don’t think I’m stupid, I know everyone says they have ‘these days’ with children. But it’s been going on for weeks now with my little girl who is 19 months.
I keep thinking and getting told by other mums and health visitor it is teething/ toddlerness/ tiredness but I’m just not sure.
The last couple of weeks about 430/5pm for about 30 mins each time she’s been having these meltdowns where she is shaking in what seems like pain, all her limbs go really stiff, she is sweating and screaming at the top of her lungs. It’s a pain scream not an angry scream. She clings to me like a monkey and I have to literally peel her off me. She will not let go of me and her whole body shakes in what seems like ‘pain’??
She is eating but not as much she usually does, some days she eats more than other days. She’s still got wet nappies and doing poos and she still sleeps ok.
I know that’s what they’ll ask me at the drs.
Is this normal do you think?

I’m sorry to ask, I just don’t want to look an idiot by going to the drs and the HV said it's just teething but I just wanted to see what others think and have experienced?
I think she's got canine teeth coming though which I have read are the most painful.
She is my first child. She has no temp, she also sleeps 630-630 and naps 2-2 1/2 hours so isn't overtired.
Thank you for any advice or experience.

I’m not medical, but this definitely sounds more than normal teething behaviour, especially the stiffened limbs. Ring 111/ GP please in case it’s seizure/ something more sinister.

Just wanting to bump this for you and hopefully someone medical sees this

Thank you.
I have been told by the HV it is the time of day and so she is teething and tired. She has this meltdown and she can be fine after this. But this doesn't seem like teething to me and I've not seen any of my friends with children have this, although I know you don't know what happens at home.
Any advice would be brilliant. I think I'll book a dr appointment anyway even if I get the brush off

As I said not a medical person but as a mum of two something about the shaking and the limb stiffness doesn’t sit right with me. Can you try to get your partner to take a video of her episodes and show it to the doctor? I would definitely get a second opinion from the doctor. Hopefully it’s just your DD being dramatic but I’d want a doctor to rule out anything medical first

Teething is what they say when they have absolutely no idea. My son was apparently 'teething' for over a year as his first didn't come in til he was 13 months.
This does not sound normal. I'd get her to your GP and ask for a referral. Some craniopathy really helped a neighbour's son who had regular blow out tantrums (he was youngest of four and mum said she realised the tantrums were beyond anything her other kids had experienced by a long way).

Thank you both
