80's sponge pillows

Made with tiny cubes of sponge inside.

Does anyone else remember them? Can't sleep and am missing the best pillow I ever had. I doubt they are still available, if I google sponge pillow all I get is memory foam pillows.

Would it be possible to make my own? I don't think it was the texture of bath sponges, inside.

The Holy grail of pillows alludes me, I've been searching for a comfortable pillow for years and can't find one. I'm a side or recovery position sleeper.

I think they're available in the US, a friend there got one recently. Maybe try amazon.com?

I remember them well.
Also rag flock pillows ,they were horrible.
if you find a good pillow for a side / recovery position sleep please let me know. I have spent a fortune!

CourtneeLuv · 23/10/2022 03:47

I'm going to make my own. You can buy bags of the foam on amazon.

Simba pillows are similar.

Had them at one of my grandmas house, in the softest striped cotton pillowcases.
I'd totally forgotten they existed.

DeePlume · 23/10/2022 08:58

Sounds like the simba hybrid pillow. I absolutely love mine

BattenburgSlice · 23/10/2022 08:59

Yes!!! We had them as children and I found them lumpy 😂

Was that the pastel colour stripes? We had that, it was the best bedding ever. My mum has still got it in the airing cupboard.

Yes that's the ones! Amazing.

@CourtneeLuv I still have two sets of those candy striped flannelette sheets.
I love them not just because they're so cosy, but because they're indestructible.
Mine are from my childhood bed and I'm almost a pensioner.
I can't help with the pillows unfortunately.

I almost cried seeing that striped flannelette sheet. Immediately took me back to being ticked into bed in my soldier jammies after a bath, with my baby brother next to me, the smell of his head, as mum read us a bedtime story. Nostalgia creeps right up sometimes. (I am over 50 now)

😭

I think it was given out by the council.

But yeah, I'm nabbing that when I go home 😂

I'm aware this was 2 years ago but this thread popped up when I went down a rabbit hole looking for the exact pillow you pictured!
I actually still have the original but it's lost so much stuffing 😔

Did you have any luck finding/making a replacement? The only stuffing I can find is shredded memory foam
