The Williamson tunnels.

emsyj37 · 22/10/2022 23:16

Hickory's in West Kirby is popular, Barbetta's in Hoylake is lovely. The Quirky Quarter in Liverpool is great fun for all ages.
River of Light festival is on soon I think - that's a nice (and free) evening.

deeplybaffled · 22/10/2022 23:16

Boulder Hut climbing centre is great.
Cheshire oaks has a trampoline park and laser quest as well as the shops, cinema and restaurants.
deeside ice rink? Maybe a show at the Floral Pavilion / Liverpool empire/ Chester theatres?
a walk round the walls in Chester
if you say where on the Wirral, I could probably suggest a few restaurants.

AntiqueCestChic · 22/10/2022 23:17

Chester favourite restaurants for my teenager

Burger shed
Hamayuu (Japanese)
Siam (Thai)
Stile Neapolitano (pizza)
Boujee (pink and instagram heaven)
Coconut grove (Indian)

Crabwoman · 22/10/2022 23:20

Claremont farm will probably have something Christmassey on.

Also, a walk around Eastham Woods followed by a trip to the Refreshment Rooms is good for a day out.

Chester has already mentioned - qnd Chester is at it's best at Christmas.

Avoid Cheshire Oaks between Christmas and New year as is busier than the run up to Christmas itself!

sleepwouldbenice · 22/10/2022 23:28

Mowglis or six by nico for food in liverpool
Escape room or VR or arcade in Liverpool assume you've done museums. Imagsine the ice skating will be on
Walk over to Hilbre island is weather and tides ok in west kirby
Chester zoo and walk round walls / history. Xmas market

sleepwouldbenice · 22/10/2022 23:29

If weather is warm enough ( as they would get drenched and totally muddy,) see if Manley mere trail in Cheshire is open that time of year. Great fun

Aghxmas · 23/10/2022 22:24

Thank you! Some lovely suggestions. We will be near heswall so any nice eateries, or even places to stay would be very welcome. I thought we might have a nice treat night in a hotel..sigh!

Parkgate to not see the sea, and for ice cream and fish and chips (there's a teeny tiny café too which is really lovely)
There's a PremierInn in Heswall, or Roomzzz in Chester is nice - or the Grosvenor if you really want to push the boat out

emsyj37 · 23/10/2022 23:11

Burnt Truffle is nice in Heswall.

LadyLolaRuben · 24/10/2022 06:40

Wall around Port Sunlight

LadyLolaRuben · 24/10/2022 06:40

Walk

Tallulasdancingshoes · 24/10/2022 16:16

There’s loads of other places to eat n Liverpool that are not near the docks. Castle street/water street/exchange flags area has loads of great places. Or there’s the Bold street area or Baltic triangle.

SpacePotato · 24/10/2022 16:30

The Lanterns at Chester Zoo are nice. Interactive light show type of thing. But needs booking in advance

What type of food?
Fine dining, italian, indian, pub, vegan....
Thornton hall is nice nearby depends on budget, or premier inn
Bus to Chester or Liverpool easy from Heswall

Thanks you are all great! I’m looking all these up, and slowly the dreaded Xmas visit is becoming a bit more interesting! Thank you everyone - the restaurants look really interesting I’ve had a super quick Google and they all look great, I think teen dd will love bougees! And I’ll love mowglis and burnt truffle. we love foreign food and live in the back end of nowhere where there is a pub with burgers and some truly dreadful Chinese takeaways. so these , and the places to go to are brilliant! I love the look of Manley mere ( no one else will!) ds can outwit Dh in the escape room.
Thank you. I’d also forgotten hilbre island, last done when dd was a baby, so 16 years ago!
thanks to covid and relatives being old we haven’t been for 3 years or more. Dh was ill last time so my memory is trudging round the docks with everyone being cold and grumpy, so this is giving me hope and a burst if enthusiasm.
ive a secret dream of a spa treat in Thornton hall, but I know it’ll never happen!
