Which electric car?

Thegoldgrind · 22/10/2022 18:22

We are looking to get an electric car, or at least put a deposit down on one in the hope of taking delivery within the next couple of years 🙄
Which one to get though? Currently have a golf which I feel is a good size for both squeezing down country lanes and fitting two car seats in the back. Can anyone recommend something similar in size that's fully electric? TY!

We are currently looking at swapping our Golf for an e2008. It's a second car for us though.

E golf? I have one. Amazing cars! Although they have stopped making them now for the id 3/4. Second hand ones are hard to come by though

We trialled a VW ID3 with Onto for a few months. It's a slightly bigger than a Golf but pretty comparable.

We now have a Kia E Niro and a Skoda Enyaq - love both of them! Both are better cars than the ID3 IMO.

You could look at the Hyundai Kona or the E Niro if you don't want something too much bigger than a Golf.

(disclaimer -don't own a car)

we have hired a hyundai kona for a roadtrip through europe.
very comfortable, even for 3 tall teens in the back. so def space for 2 large car seats.

the boot is quite small though.

Not a similar size but I have an Audi Etron
Best thing I ever did
you will not regret it

The Niro and the Kona share the same platform (same electrics) but the Kona has a smaller body and boot than the Niro so if boot is important, the Niro is a better choice.

We have a Hyundai Kona. We really like it but we are changing it as the boot is too small

Thegoldgrind · 22/10/2022 19:12

Thanks all! Off to Google all the ones I hadn't heard of!

We have a Niro on order. You may find your choice is influenced by lead times (some are 12 months or more) but we were impressed by the Niro anyway. Wee bit bigger than a Golf but better spec and having had Kia motors in the past we felt a decent choice.

EATmum · 22/10/2022 19:30

We have the Renault Zoe which is a similar size. Love it.

Sickoffamilydrama · 22/10/2022 19:31

I have 3 children only one in a car seat, my company car is a Ford Mustang Mach E I really rate it the range is accurate it's nice to drive.

The boot is a good size as well.

Why do people post without stating a budget, usage etc.

Buy a Tesla model S plaid.

Thegoldgrind · 23/10/2022 09:24

Apologies, perhaps the thread title is misleading then!
'Which electric car would you recommend that is similar in size to a golf?'
Lots of electric cars seem either very big or very small 🤷🏼‍♀️
The car will be a company car, second vehicle and I wfh hence why cost and range are not mentioned in my OP.
