Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in silence, & watching the breeze in the big sycamore at the end of my garden. Love being first up & my quiet start to the day.

The washer's on, and there are 2 more loads to be done but I don't think I'll do them today - towels and tea towels, they can probably wait til tomorrow. Uniforms all got done last night & are almost dry.

Me and dd1 are off to The Fillers gig in Sheffield later so I'm sure she'll be getting up soon to shower/shave/stick false lashes/dither about what to wear 🤣 She's very excited!

Dd2's going out for dinner with their dad, I think they'd decided on Cosmo, so she will probably do the same as dd1 🤷‍♀️

Dd1 wants to leave about 1:30 so we can eat in Sheffield so I plan to get myself dressed shortly & spend the day sketching my next set of story spoons before we leave.

What about all of you? 🙂

Love these threads! Look forward to reading them every week. It's DP's birthday today, so he had a lie in while I got up with baby DD then we had croissants for breakfast and we are now all lazing on the couch. My parents are coming to watch DD later so DP and I can go out for lunch - our first baby free outing since she was born in the summer! Both excited and nervous to leave her. Then we have cheese, wine and bread to pick at this evening and we'll probably continue The Playlist which we started watching last night on Netflix. An unusually full day - most Saturdays are just laundry and walks with the pram!

Funkyslippers · 22/10/2022 10:20

lucysmam myself, OH and DD2 are in Sheffield this weekend. We're visiting DD1 at uni. Hadn't seen her for 5 weeks.Went out for dinner last night which was nice but DDs bickering, some things never change! Today we're chilling at the air BnB, will go for a walk shortly, have lunch then meet dd1 for shopping. This evening probably go out for dinner again. Tomorrow we'll go out for breakfast then make the journey back to Bristol (took 5 hours to get here yesterday but I'm hopeful it will be quicker tomorrow or I may lose the will to live 🤪)

Good morning all.

Our daughter is teething, so I’m very tired as she hasn’t been sleeping, we’ve had to take it in turns to sit with her for the last three nights. I’m currently sat in hell (trampoline park).

Later we’re using acorns to make autumn/halloween decorations, they have been roasted to dry them out, so now we just need to paint them before glueing them back in their ‘caps’. We’ve also got some conkers, so I need to buy some shoe laces so we can play with those.

We’re going away for a few days over halfterm, so we need to get ready for that, I can’t drive at the moment so we need to pack very light as we’ll be going on the train, so I’m going to try and get everything packed and ready tonight.

Probably going to the tip as I run a business from home which accumulates a lot of cardboard boxes.
Also I have two magazine features to write so will be searching for some inspiration for those
Hopefully more lazing about than the last two weeks it has been full on

Vapeyvapevape · 22/10/2022 10:23

Dd has just heard that she's passed the credit checks and so she and her boyfriend will be moving into their first house in a couple of weeks, so off to IKEA later to help kit them out with a few essentials as they don't have any!
I've started to clear out my kitchen in preparation for a new one, so she have all my old plates and mugs .

FayeGovan · 22/10/2022 10:32

Everyone in bed sleeping, i like getting up early and enjoying the peace, same as you @lucysmam

A quiet day for me, forecast wet and damp weather too. Dh out later and ds probably out too so i have lots of time alone. But feeling a bit out of sorts so will have to try to keep my mood up.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 22/10/2022 10:39

Shopping has been delivered and put away.

DH and DD getting ready to head out for the day.

I'm hosting an early halloween party for my sister and a joint friend so we have just decorated the living room, spooky cocktails ready to be made and spooky music playlist prepared!

SavingsThreads · 22/10/2022 10:43

I woke up early and naturally - my favourite! Now having a mug of coffee one the sofa with bake-off - Saturday morning bliss!

Need to plan and do a food shop, might do some baking if inspired, then need to sort my house out with a bit of a declutter.

Will also carve some time out for laying horizontal as I'm out tomorrow and have a busy week at working coming up.

EsmeeMerlin · 22/10/2022 10:45

We were supposed to have my sister and nephew round today but ds2 threw up this morning as he has a cold and often struggles to clear mucus so throws it up sometimes. Today will obviously be an indoor day. I have been pottering about cleaning while ds2 is on the sofa watching Disney plus where he will stay all day. DS1 is complaining so will soon get him out some Halloween crafts I had bought for today. Strictly later.

MeowMeowPowerRangers · 22/10/2022 10:46

Getting ready to get the train down with DC to spend some time with my parents for the half term week.
DH doesn't know how lucky he has it, a whole week of lie ins and peace and quiet 😩😂

Selok · 22/10/2022 10:47

Today is my weigh-in day Slimming world group- started a few weeks ago, can't get myself motivated, also started hrt gel and tablets like 2 months ago- also have 17yo clashing of female hormones in the household - so this morning woke up early, debating to go or not to go and face the scales as I have been putting on the pounds back that I lost in the first two weeks- so in the end didn't go!! And thinking of stopping it and go with my app lose it counting calories- since this morning still thinking of these things in mind

CharlotteStreet · 22/10/2022 11:01

A day to myself as DH has gone to footy (and away game involving train strikes). Been phone browsing and drinking tea so far and had a chat with my brother. Oh the plumber popped by to check the new boiler he fitted last week.

Need to pop out to buy some cat food then I'm taking to the sofa - also with a copy of Ideal Home - and catch up with UK Drag Race which DH hates.

Might do some washing. Might not.

SweetestThing · 22/10/2022 11:11

Morning, all. DH on way back from collecting DD from Heathrow. I've washed our bedding and hung it on the line, walked the dogs, vacuumed and shampooed the hall and sitting room carpets, mopped the kitchen floor and cleaned the kitchen. Will despatch DH to do food shopping later and then I'll make some soup and veg chilli or curry in the slow cooker. A day of domesticity, really.

Umbrellabee · 22/10/2022 11:28

We are having an early Halloween party for my DC and nieces and nephews this afternoon so just preparing for that. I’ve baked and got lots of food ready. The DC are very excited!

sensibleheartxo · 22/10/2022 11:33

Working until 2pm then going to have a mooch in B&M and pop to M&S for something for tea.

This afternoon DP and I are going to clear out the loft. I have so many clothes up there it is unbelievable. I really want to put them on Vinted or EBay but most people seem to want things for nothing these days so I’m debating if it’s even worth it or I should just put everything to the charity shop.

Dinner tonight will be quick and easy as I am exhausted. We watched the first episode of Crossfire last night (I think it was on BBC a few weeks ago) it was really good so we’ll watch the 2nd one this evening then I’ll take myself off to the spare room and watch Strictly whilst browsing for some Christmas present inspiration.

FayeGovan · 22/10/2022 12:21

Envious here of everyone that is hanging washing outside today. No chance here. Thank god for the humidifier.

Doughnuts68 · 22/10/2022 12:51

Carving pumpkins

afaloren · 22/10/2022 13:09

Worked early this morning, then took the dog to the park. Helped DH replace a light on the car then a bit of housework. Later dropping DH and a friend at the station to go into town and I will have some wine and watch the Kardashians, my guilty pleasure!

FreezyWater · 22/10/2022 13:29

These are my favourite threads.

Woke up this morning with a bad headache one too many beers so settled downstairs with herbal tea, pa

MintJulia · 22/10/2022 13:48

So far, I've taken ds to his swimming class, then tried to join ParkRun but the staff at the venue had forgotten to unlock the carpark, so 200 people including me, with nowhere to park. 😕

Came home, threw the washing in, cleaned the kitchen, collected DS from swimming, made him a second breakfast 😀then Tesco food shop. First wash on the line, 2nd wash in.

Now I'll go for a run on my own. DS is happy on his own for 40 mins, then we'll have lunch.

This afternoon......try to get the half term homework out of the way so we can relax. Or at least get DS to start it. Then hoovering, ironing, blah di blah.

Hopefully leaving us tomorrow to have some fun 😊

FreezyWater · 22/10/2022 13:50

Bugger. Posted too early.

Settled with painkillers and Ddog until DCs woke up. DS currently has another nasty ear infection and his other ear exploded in pus this morning so he's a bit fed up.
Went back to bed for a couple of hours then came to work, we've a christening on today so the husband and godfather came in to decorate with mum instructing via video call 😂

When I finish work I have promised DD we will watch hocus pocus. Tomorrow will be a quiet day pottering.

The6thQueen · 22/10/2022 13:55

Thank you @lucysmam, DD is slightly excited 🙈
cake is finished and just to (not so) stealth boast!

Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
lucysmam · 22/10/2022 13:58

@The6thQueen dd1 is half reading over my shoulder on the bus to Sheffield & says "that looks yummy, we should go there for cake" 🤣 It's very impressive!

I'm having a rare lazy day. So much to do (but none of it urgent) & I am achieving so little.

bloodywhitecat · 22/10/2022 14:10

I got up at the crack of dawn to go and support DD at her local parkrun. She was 28th and the second female across the line and did a PB of 22 minutes. We are now having a mother/daughter day for my birthday which was a few weeks ago.

This is my last free weekend as my new fosterling moves in this week.
