Anybody else suffering with this monster cold?

I'm on day 5. Stuffed up head, lethargy (but cant sleep), sore & watering eyes but no temp.

Covid tests all negative.

I've had covid, this cold is 100 times worse! Walking in a straight line is nigh on impossible for me at the mo, and the stinging eyes are awful.

I'm on day 17, my partner and both kids felt better after a week so I'm rather annoyed. Keeping dosed up with tablets to suppress the coughing and lessen the headache but still feeling rough.

I had it two weeks ago, lasted around 9 days. Like a normal heavy cold but lasted much longer! I guess because people interact less (especially those who wfh) our immunity is much lower than it used to be so it takes longer to shake bugs. It's probably the similar cold virus we had 5/10 years ago.

Me! Feel horrible! Full of catarrh and blinding headache. Gutted to hear it lasts ages, I was hoping for 3 days!

On day 16 here. Worst thing for me by far is the brain fog. Getting to the point I'm close to going to the doctors about it. But have had a blocked nose, running nose, sore eye, headaches and terrible exhaustion. Have been on half term and feeling guilty about how little we've done.

mynameiscalypso · 22/10/2022 12:47

Yup! On day 8 here. Still feel like shit. DS and DH had it as a minor cold but it's totally floored me.

Hello fellow sufferers! Got this a month and a half ago - yes much worse than covid! Two days in particular I couldn’t get out of bed, thought was being dramatic so tried to work through it. Still now coughing and had big increase in chest stuff about two weeks ago (maybe a new cold?), still coughing badly now with big fatigue days so off to check with GP. Tested for covid every few days - negative!

Yeah I was flat out for 5 days then woke this morning feeling much better. Been taking that last defence nasal spray religiously, not sure if that helps.

I’m on day 11. I’m definitely getting better but still have the cough and not much sense of taste or smell. On the plus side, I can get out of bed now, so every cloud...

Those symptoms are exactly like I have. I had to drive yesterday and realised quickly it was a bad idea so when DH asked me to drop him at the train station today (only a 5 min drive but not walkable) I had to refuse as I'm sure I'd have killed us.

I've been off work for 5 weeks due to a bereavement and am due back on Monday. Desperately hoping I'll feel better by then, although at least I can wfh.

I feel like I need to sleep for a good 9 or 10 hours but am barely managing 4 hours at the moment. This probably isnt helping my stinging eyes.

I've been using that, and max strength echinacea tablets.

Thankfully I havent really had a cough, or any effect to my taste/smell.

It's my stinging eyes and stuffed nose that bother me most.

Have you got any cans of drink or small bottles of water or pouches of drink etc? Something cold on your eyes will feel amazing. And leaning over a bowl of boiling water with a tea towel over your head will help to clear your nose, especially if you’ve got a couple of drops of Olbas oil in there too.

Wingsnfly · 22/10/2022 17:07

Yes! On day 7. I was wiped out last week and spent most of it in bed. Feel much better today but still really knackered, sniffly, coughing and wheezy.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 22/10/2022 17:16

Yep, had it for about 3 weeks now. I am absolutely fed up of sneezing and feeling stuffed up. Not really had a cough but headaches, tiredness, sinus issues and very sore eyes are driving me potty. All COVID tests have been negative, so I have been plodding on at work. Ugh.

Friarclose · 22/10/2022 22:17

Came down with it on the 13th and still coughing. Its horrible!!

TooFewSpoons · 22/10/2022 22:19

Try cucumber slices on your eyes to cool the stinging. Works for hayfever eyes, might help here? You have my sympathies. I'm over it now but it was not nice.
