Rehab for drug addiction

Hi, can someone help? My friend is looking to get into rehab for drug addiction: marijuana, cocaine & painkillers. He's managed to get off painkillers but is struggling with the others. He's looking at Khiron but the reviews are mixed. Does anyone know here or preferably can share views and experiences of other places? He is near London. Thanks.

I k ow someone who went to The Manor near Southampton but it was very expensive.

TheSausageKingofChicago · 21/10/2022 18:09

Are they looking to go private or get funding? The first port of call would be the local substance services - they can help to get the person ready for rehab and sort funding if they meet the criteria.

They may recommend community detox instead, but that would be the starting point. They will know all about the local services available, including residential if that’s a suitable option.

Butterflyclipped · 21/10/2022 18:15

Thanks both. They are paying for it privately. Will pass on this info but I think they are hoping to avoid local services.

In the nicest possible way. Don't enable. Keep your boundaries.

Butterflyclipped · 21/10/2022 18:24

Not sure what you mean. I’m asking for research.

General research or research for a particular person?

Butterflyclipped · 21/10/2022 18:44

I have said in my OP. I’m helping my friend to research this. I am not enabling in any way. My boundaries are very clear.

Would they consider a Christian Re-hab? I've heard good things about Betel.

If they wanted to do it enough they'd be researching it themselves.

Butterflyclipped · 21/10/2022 19:06

They’ve given me a list & I want to compare notes. WTF, stop judging, please. If you can’t relate to my OP, please get off the thread.

Thanks for this. It looks like they do brilliant work. Yes, I think he would consider a Christian ethos. I didn’t know about this charity, thank you for posting about it.

I'm not judging you.

I've been where you are.

They need to do it themselves. They're just passing it to you as a distraction it keeps you busy and let's you think they're ready to do something when they're not really.

They don't want local services. They don't want to is they don't want that.

They're controlling the narrative and manipulating you.

It's not their fault - they're an addict - but I can't tell you as sure as eggs is eggs that you are being spun a line and that if they wanted to detox and get clean they would be finding all this out by themselves.

SmotYci · 21/10/2022 19:10

There's also Hope Missionaries in Cwmbran (near Newport Gwent).

Butterflyclipped · 21/10/2022 19:18

I beg to differ, deliverooyoutoo. You are judging both him and me.

He's doing it by himself. He doesn't know I'm posting or that I am looking this stuff up, and there is nothing at all being passed onto me.

He is taking action by himself. He's paying for it himself. My worry is that it sounds expensive and I want to know what my friend would be getting for his money and what other people have experienced and whether it is worth it. There is a huge difference between Christian charity which is free and two of the different sums he told me.

He is most certainly not controlling any narrative to do with me. He is not manipulating me. It is not as simple as using local services. There are reasons I can't go into.

Not all situations are the same and not all are like yours. Stop jumping to conclusions.

My friend went to the priory in Essex I think it was, not the main one. Been straight since but was about £15k

Butterflyclipped · 21/10/2022 20:18

Thank you, Mingo, I saw the Priory and wondered if they are all roughly the same - that was the ball park figure he quoted but idk if it's the Priory or a different place.

Why doesn’t he want local services? Once he’s done his in patient work he will probably need some kind of maintenance

Butterflyclipped · 23/10/2022 00:16

It's not so much doesn't want, as he doesn't qualify, bit complicated and I can't explain without giving away too much info. He doesn't live in the UK all the time.

Priory do a 28 day ATP programme. It’s expensive. It’s not just at Roehampton.

I wish you and him all the best.

For a more Christian ethos Yeldall Manor in Berkshire. It’s men only.

Kapalika · 23/10/2022 00:32

Hi Op
Have a look at the Providence Project in Boscome, Bournemouth 😊

ilovesooty · 23/10/2022 00:35

What is he planning in terms of rehab preparation and aftercare?

Craftgirlx · 23/10/2022 00:47

Had a family member overcome his substance addiction at Betel. He is now thriving, happy and we’re all so proud and grateful for the second chance. Would also recommend Naltrexone implants if financially viable!

bramblebucket · 23/10/2022 00:56

Please don't consider The Priory
