Can anyone answer a quick q re Covid vaccine please?

If you have had vaccines 1 and 2 but not the third vaccine last Dec/Jan, can you have the autumn booster or do you need no 3 first? Probably a stupid question but asking anyway as can’t find a straight answer on google!

Oh! I thought I would be able to help but sadly have no idea.. my DS is housebound & hasn't had his 3rd yet, have to wait for nurses to have time / doses to bring out.. I do hope someone here will know.. I guess the answer would be that it's fine, but don't take my word for it!

I would be surprised if you need the third now, as it has been superseded by the fourth.

I don't know for sure, but the third dose was a booster so I assume that you would just get the most recent booster that protects against whatever strain is prevalent at the moment. If you have an appointment for a booster the nurse would check your records and give you the appropriate vaccine.

By 3rd vaccine do you mean your 3rd primary vaccine because you are CEV or your 2021 booster?

In either case, yes you can have your 2022 booster now, assuming you're otherwise eligible. You'll get either the Pfizer bivalent or the Moderna bivalent.

Ah I think I've just realised what you mean - you wondered whether you needed the original booster before you go into the bivalent one. No you don't - you can have the bivalent now.

This one says the booster is for the people who had 2 primaries. So, it seems like you can have the new bivalent booster without having 3rd normal booster.

I would just ask for the up to date booster…
