Mid cycle spotting

I put this in women's health but I don't think it's a well used topic

I've always had regular periods and have never had any spotting outside of my period. I'm 44 now and this month has some light spotting overnight mid cycle. This is the first time it's happened, shall I mention to GP or do they only take note if it's ongoing?

Any advice welcome, this is new for me and I don't want to Google too much as it'll tell me I have something hideous!

I would say def mention to GP, but at our age (I'm 44 too) very common. I'm currently spotting on day ten of cycle. Sometimes certain supplements can cause spotting or cycle changes or things like erosions on the cervix (common, Ive had this before also )
Keep an eye on it make a note of it on calendar
Hope your ok xx

I'd also say post in women's health
I found your post as I was searching for spotting posts xx

Can I join this chat?!

The last couple of cycles I've had spotting, generally starting mid cycle and continuing until period starts - annoying!

This month has been a bit different and the start was a bit heavier than a spot - not as heavy as a period, at all, but heavier than previous spotting.

Also, weirdly, my boobs are like rocks! You know that feeling when you take your bra off just before period arrives? I've had that alongside the spotting. Lucky me.

I'm 42 so I'm guessing could be peri menopausal

Its always worth mentioning this to the GO @familyissues12345 I did and they have sent me for an ultrasound- it's this week coming.

As in a gynae ultrasound @shunderland ?

shunderland · 06/11/2022 14:56

Yes, they did an internal and took some bloods (still waiting for results) and also referred me to gynae ultrasound so they take mid cycle spitting very seriously @familyissues12345

Thanks @shunderland

I've actually got a docs app coming up this week as I had a full abdo/gynae scan recently due to a question of gallstones - which were confirmed at the scan.

The GP asked to include gynae in case I had referred pain but nothing showed on the scan. Maybe I should push tor an internal scan?

Pleased I haven't got to wait to long for an appointment!
